Questions
| Answers1. One key plan is to keep the people who are going in mars in shape. When you are in space, there os no gravity and that affects your muscles so when you get to mars and walk off the ship, you will feel very odd. Nasa is building a treadmill that keeps you on the treadmill " because there is no gravity in space ". Another plan Nasa is making is to improve mars spacesuits because mars is different than earth. 2. The trip will take about 6 months and the halfway point is about 102 days. 3. They will definitely need a huge supply of food and water, any way possible to get and have oxygen, good spacesuits that are meant for mars, and weather devices to see if there is any unknown dust storms coming. 4.The risks of traveling to a distant planet is that if you are sick and need to go to the hospital, the nearest one is probably months away. Another risk is that there are solar flares. This situation is where you need to go in a safe place on the rocket that is usually tight and cramped. If you went outside of the tight space, you would die. This is bad because some solar flares last possibly for months. You can't exercise in the tight space and if you are in a hurry to get into the tight space, you might not grab food and water which are key to surviving. 5. I would want to bring water and food to survive, a board game for entertainment when I get board, and a pack of extra clothes because you usually grow in space and I would want to bring extra clothes so that I'm not cramped in my t-shirt. |

Write a blog entry called, "If the World Were a Village" and write about the following in paragraph format. (Don't respond to these questions individually. Incorporate them all into a paragraph.)
Reflection ParagraphThis book was really good. Everybody should read this book and be informed of how bad our world is and how much our world is changing. The thing that upset me the most was how much people are undernourished with food. 47%! This is crazy and unfair to the 47% of the people who are undernourished. I wish that there was some sort of technology to prevent this from happening. This thing would ration out the food with everybody equally. The thing that surprised me the most was that in the year 2150, the worlds population will be 2.5 times more than it is now. Currently our world's population is around 7.4 billion! If you do the math, the year 2150 world's population will be around 18.5 billion people! That is why we are going to be sent to mars and see if it is safe to live on mars so that our world doesn't get crammed. A situation I want to help with to improve it is to give food to others who need it. I just feel feel like we should all be treated equally but that is not the case here. Food is not rationed out equally and some of that has to do with how much money they have. We can help with this by going to help at different volunteer places like Soup Kitchen and donate food and money to people who need it the most.

Reflection Paragraph: This was a really fun and interesting activity project. The best thing about this project was looking at your results. I was really surprised that sit -ups cause more heart beats per minute than running in place.I am guessing that I didn't count right or something because I was more out of breath from running in place than doing sit - ups. My least favorite part of the project was trying to count your heart beats in classroom. It wasn't that bad but people were talking way to much and it was hard to hear the beats. Overall this project was really fun and I hope to do something like this again.
Paragraph: This project was painful and fun. I think it is painful because your working two muscles 30 seconds 10 times, does that not sound painful to you? I thought it was fun because we got to realize what our muscles do overtime from getting tired and everybody was laughing at each others faces because it hurt so much. My favorite part about the project was realizing what muscles do overtime when they are fatigue. Me least favorite part about the project is having to do it 10 times! After each trial, your fingers would get more numb and fatigue. Overall this project was really fun and I loved that we got to learn what muscles do overtime when they are fatigue.
On the left is my preference of what bones or body parts are the hardest to survive without and the least hardest to survive without. ( Top to bottom.)
Observation 1: I saw Cassidy taking short steps because Cassidy wanted to conserve energy. She knew that it takes a while to type down observations so she knew she had to conserve energy. Observation 2: I saw Cassidy's Arms pumping because it keeps your body balanced and allows you run faster. Pumping your arms also makes you run in a straight line and when running in place, you have to go or be straight in place. Observation 3: I saw Cassidy breathing heavily because when exercising, you need more blood pumped around your body and when you get tired, you need to breathe heavy to provide your heart to pump more blood. Observation 4: I saw Cassidy's hair waving around because she is moving up and down so the motion makes her hair go up and down. Observation 5: I saw Cassidy's knees bending because when you run, a bunch of body parts bend including the knees. Observation 6: I felt very tired after jumping jacks because fatigue was setting in and I was exercising. Observation 7: I saw Cassidy is feeling hot from exercising so she took off her sweatshirt because when we are exercising, the sweat we produce releases heat. Observation 8: Cassidy is very tired after both running in place and jumping jacks because when you exercise, you mostly fell fatigue, hot, sweaty, and dehydrated. Observation 9: My legs felt a little sore after exercising because I really don't do that much jumping jacks, and when you try out a new exercise, your muscles tend to feel sore. Observation 10: I felt my heart beating like crazy after doing both exercises after three minutes straight because your body needs more oxygen and blood so your heart pumps more blood in your body and produces the right amount of oxygen.
