Questions1. How was your first round of KinderPals gone?. 2. What were some differences between the two experiences (AM and PM)? 3. How did you improve your skills as a KinderPal from the first experience to the second? 4. In what specific ways did you help improve your students' self-esteem? 5. Why should other schools do a program similar to KinderPals? Is it worth the time spent? | Answers1. My first round of KinderPals went pretty good. I loved how they weren't shy about talking about certain things that I asked them about and when I was asking them certain questions they didn't get distracted by many different things around the room. 2. The AM was a little bit more wild and loud and the PM was more calm. This probably happened because the AM just started the day and the PM is halfway through their day. 3. I improved by having a plan of what to do with the second time than the first. I remembered what I would do and how to introduce myself to the kindergarten and certain ways to ask questions. 4. I improved my students self - esteem by making positive comments on what they do and tell them that they have a " superpower at something ". It was very hard to act out if they are good at something when they aren't but in some cases they are actually really good at something. My AM kinderpal told me he played chess and I don't even know how to play! 5. Other schools should do a program similar to KinderPals because it makes kindergartners feel like they are awesome and special. It also makes a kindergartner's day because a 5th grader came to see you. It is worth the time spent because it shows the 5th graders how kindergartners can be just as good as some things like you. |
