I liked this activity and I learned a lot about colonial Illinois. I think it was a more fun way to learn about history. I liked that there were lots of stations with people in-character. The actors were thorough and understandable. I would definitely rather do this again than read in some textbook.
I was at band for the rest of the time...
If you were about to read a book about about an astronaut who went to Venus, what are three or more things you might think about before reading that would activate your schema? I would think there would be some kind of catastrophic event because nobody has ever been to Venus before, I would think it would definitely be a fiction, because it is nearly impossible to get to Venus, and I would think it would be cheesy or fake, because nobody has been to Venus before. If the book said, "The astronaut's helmet began to melt..." what would you imagine the cause was? Why would his or her helmet be melting? Use your schema to answer this question. I would think it would be because of the extreme climate, or being too close to the sun, and because Venus is the second closest planet to the sun.
