We created a metaphor for the Revolutionary War by playing a game of tug of war. We had the blue team, (the colonial army) the red team, (the British army) the white team, (the French) and a different group on the red team. (The Native Americans). The blue team was larger, and was given a motivation that if they won, they wouldn't have to do the blog post, which represented the colonies getting their independence, and the British just fighting to keep things how they already are. The white team was just cheering for the blue team at first, but then joined in on the action, which was essentially what the French did in the Revolutionary War. The other people on the red team stood for the Native Americans because they sided with the British during the Revolutionary War. The Native Americans sided with the British because if the British won, that meant that they would get to keep their land. In the Revolutionary War, the British army was stronger and extremely well trained, where the colonial army was made up of volunteers. In our metaphor, the taller kids were on the British army, and the shorter, or less tall kids were on the colonial army.
1. I was a member of the red team
2. At the beginning of the game I was pretty confused, but later on, I understood the metaphor and why we were doing what we were doing.
3. Definitely blue, because they were given a reason to be motivated, and a lot of volunteers.
4. I never really felt anything because I knew the blue team wasn't going to get the reward if they won, and that it was a complete metaphor for the Revolutionary War.
5. They were motivated, they had more team members, and they had lots of help from the French team.
6. America did start with a weak government once we won the war, but that was just because we had a huge change in everything, and we were no longer being owned by Britain. It was important that America won the war because if they lost, Britain would probably be harsher on them.
7. If America had lost the war, we wouldn't be a free country now. The British also probably would've passed more laws and unfair acts.
