Historical Reenactment of Illinois in the 1700's

1. I am looking forward to meeting Ida because I want to know what kids did back then. I have been interested in this for a while, so I am looking forward to seeing that display.
2. I also want to meet Zeb because I want to see what houses and tools and other hardware related stuff was like back then. I want to see how much the modern tools and their functions were like the tools in the 1700's.

2. Peter Smith: Frontiersman - Frontiers would spend an entire day hunting, and the food would go bad really quickly.
3. Roland Soule: English Soldier - The soldiers would eat hardtack, which is just flour and water.
4. Ida: Children's toys and games - Barely anyone had toys, because they were so expensive to purchase and maintain.
5. Zeb/Zebediah: Carpenter - Hatchets and axes were the most efficient tools used by frontiers.
6. Charles W. Walker: Leader of militia - Militia used lots of unique weapons.
7. Joseph O'Fallen: Trapper and trader - Beaver skins were the most valuable types of skins.
8. Catherine duBois: Colonial Clothing - People would wear stays, which hold your shoulders from slouching.
9. Janette Lundahl: Spinner - Naturally colored cotton was less popular than white cotton.
10. Captain Parke: Surveyor/Spy - Frontiersmen used links to measure distance.

I liked this activity and I learned a lot about colonial Illinois. I think it was a more fun way to learn about history. I liked that there were lots of stations with people in-character. The actors were thorough and understandable. I would definitely rather do this again than read in some textbook.
