  • Which joint did you choose as our most important joint?
  • Why did you choose that joint?
  • What things would be difficult to do without that joint?
  • What movement can be done without the use of joints? (Example: blinking your eyes)
For my most important joint I chose jaw.
I chose this joint because without a jaw you wouldn't be able to live and you cant eat or drink without a jaw.
The things that would be difficult without this joint is you wouldn't be able to eat or drink.
You can blink your eyes.

Human Body Lesson 5 - How Do We Move

12/7/2015

Observation 1: She is sweating

Because she is working hard by jumping and running. And She is wearing a sweater.

Observation 2: She is breathing hard

Because when you exercise you usually start breathing hard and you start to breath hard when you are burning weight and getting hot.

Observation 3: She is burning calories

Because when you work out you start to burn calories and when you burn calories you lose weight by working out.

Observation 4: She is getting her heart rate up

She is getting her heart rate up because when you work out your heart starts beating faster and it makes you lose weight as well.

Observation 5: She is jumping on her toes

Because when you jump on one part of your foot to long it might get tired so you might want to change the way you jump.

Observation 6: She is getting slower

She is getting slower because she is probably getting tired from working out so much and getting your heart rate up.

Observation 7: She is not talking as loud

She is probably not talking as loud because when you work out talking waste some of your energy so you usually want to keep you all of your energy.

Observation 8: She keeps changing how she is jumping

She keeps changing how she is jumping because it might feel more comfortable jumping one way but not as comfortable another way.

Observation 9: Her face is getting red

her face is getting red because when you work out the blood flows through your face fast which makes it turn red.

Observation 10: She is getting a small cramp

She is getting a small cramp because either she drank to much water before this activity or she didn't drink enough water during this activity.

Questions

  • What three basic things do our bodies need in order survive?
  • If we exert ourselves, what are three (or more) signs that our bodies are in distress? Explain why our body does that (research it if you need to).
  • What can we do to make these signs go away?

Answers

the three basic things we need to survive are air, water, and food.
Three ways that is a sign we are exerting our selves are sweating, breathing hard, and accelerated heart rate. our body does that because when we work out reacts to what we are doing.
the things we can do to make these signs go away are we could not work as hard, or take breaks while we are working out.

Observations

  • This apple is really cool one of the first things I noticed was how the inside of the apple was amazing because the white part had lots of amazing lines and sparkles on it.
  • On the bottom there was pieces of fuzz almost like a feather.
  • On the bottom there was also some brown dots which was maybe from parts of the vine or maybe even pesticides.
  • I saw that the core went all the way through the apple and to the middle.
  • It was cool how the apple turned brown as the the minuets went by.
  • It was amazing how the out side of the apple was lots of different shades of Yellows, Reds, and Greens.
  • I'm wondering how the seeds got into the slots that they did and how they stayed there.
  • It was weird how fragile and soft the apple was because when I rubbed the tooth pick against it it made lots of little scratches and marks.
    • The slots that held the seeds were really detailed with lots of little lines and little crevasses
    • The inside of the apple where the seeds were is really cool because it seemed to hollow and really detailed.
    • The inside of the seeds were really cool because it was pure white almost like the inside of a coconut.

Reflection Questions

Picture

  • Why were you able to observe so many things about your apple today?
  • Why is observation and description so important in science?
  • Rank order the five senses in the order or your observations (i.e. which sense was used most, second most, etc.).

Answers

1. I was able to observe so much because I used all of my senses and I used a magnifying glass to help observe even better.
2. Observation and description is so important in science because you always want to look harder at something then just taking a little glance at something and saying lots of things that aren't descriptive and easy to find.
3. The five senses in order from greatest to least are touch, sight, smell, hearing, and taste.

How Might Humans and Aliens Be Different?

12/2/2015

Human

Picture
The ways humans have adapted to our planet is we grew arms and legs to walk, we have eyes to see, We have good types of teeth to eat, we have noses and mouths to breath, we have ears so we can hear what people are saying or different sounds things are making, are body's are made that we we sleep in night night time and not in the daytime, we have mussels so we can lift things and move, it also has a nose which helps them smell.

Alien

Picture
The reason why each alien has each of theses parts are, the sucker is so they can eat algae and other things that you would need a sucker for. It has the long eyes because the ground is smooth and wet so you would need them high so you don't get mud in your eyes. It has the slime under its flippers so it can move easier and slide easier on the ground. The flippers are so it can slide and walk on the soft wet ground. The ring around it body is so it will block its feet from the rain so it can still walk. The flipper by its eye is so it can duck its eyes under it when there is a predator.

Reflection/Reflection Questions

1. Compare and contrast your alien and a human.  What similarities do they have and what differences do they have?  These should be related to the parts of their bodies that have a specific purpose (Example: Both have feet which help them both stand straight up.)  Try to be specific and explain things with detail.
The similarities are both have feet/flippers which help them walk and stand up, they both have eyes which helps them both see, they both have a mouth which helps them eat and breath. The differences are humans have ears when an alien doesn't, the human has hands when the alien doesn't, the human also has an nose when the alien does not. The things the alien has but not the human are it has a flipper over its eye, and it has slime so it can move easier.

My Story

I'm 1 inch tall I and one day I was minding my own business when I walked up to this beautiful majestic mountain. It was so beautiful that i just couldn’t help myself not to climb it. So I did.

When I started to climb it seemed to be getting bigger and bigger as I got higher. During my journey there was this huge rope like this and it seemed to be lots of crackly rocks. So i jumped on the rope and tried to swing across the crackly rocks. But when I did that I fell into to a very dark cave and I was lost. There seemed to be a little hole in the cave and I tried my best to squirm through it. When I got through it there seemed to be a whole other cave. There was lots of multi colored squares. I thought why not try to climb up them. Once I was at the top of the mysterious squares I fell right through them for some reason. Once I was in those there was lots of white squares. When I tried to climb up those they just kept ripping into tiny little shreds. I realized I could make a ladder out of them so I kept ripping until I had enough. Once there was enough I built the ladder and climb out of the squares. Once I was out I jumped onto another rope and swung out of the cave. When I was out of the cave I was at the top of the mountain which was really good because that meant I could finally leave this creepy mountain. Once I was towards the end of the top there was a giant slide type of thing so I slide down it and I was finally off of that creepy mysterious mountain!
