Photographs and Illustrations The reason authors add photographs and illustrations because they want to give you visual idea of what something or someone looked like. Captions and Labels Authors put captions and labels in because they want you to what is happening and what something is or who the person is. Maps The authors puts maps in to show were something is in the world. Introductions An introduction tells you a little information on the section your about to read. Headings Authors put headings in to tell you what the section is about. Subheadings Subheadings are used to tell you what the phew paragraphs are about. Types of Print Different types of print are used to express feeling in a word. Timeline A timeline is used to show what happened over a number of years. Bibliography Authors use Bibliography to tell you some books or websites to more information. Inserts and Sidebars Inserts and side bars are used to give fun facts about something in that time period. Index The index is used to tell were something specific is in the book. Table of Contents The table of contents tells you the chapters or sections in the book and the pages they're on. Diagrams and Cutaways A diagram or a cutaway is used to give someone a visual image of what something looked like, and it is labeled so they know what it is. Charts and Graphics
