Muscular System

9/28/2016

I learned...
  • Muscles pull not push.
  • All muscles work in pairs, except for the heart.
  • Your muscles have to move to relax and contrast, to work properly.
  • The biceps pull the arm up, on the other hand, the triceps pull the arm down.
  • What moves the bones of our bodies?
  • Do they move on their own or does something else move them?
  • Can you feel your muscles moving?
  • What changes when you flex and unflex?
  • How do you think these muscles move?
Where are the muscles attached in order to do this?

  • Joints and muscles move the body.
  • They don't move on their own they need sometime joints in there bodies and the muscles around the bone.
  • Yes. Mostly the biceps I feel moving and sometimes triceps, but rarely.
  • The changes are when you flex, the bones making the elbow go straight down, when you unflex your arm goes up the two bones making the elbow are pointed down.
  • By lifting each other up with the biceps and triceps and some other muscle. And by going up and down.
  • The biceps are attached right next to the ball and socket joints are but the two things still have distance, on the other hand the triceps are right under the biceps.

Reflection Questions:
  1. What do you hope to get out of the Pen Pals activities? What do you hope to learn about?
  2. How will you make sure that your writing is considered "Advanced" on the rubric above? How will you make sure others in our class meet the "Advanced" level in writing as well?
  3. Why do you think it is worth one hour each week to dedicate to this program?
Answers:
  1. I hope to learn about peoples life styles and what they do on a daily basis. I wanted to know about the lifestyle , what they eat and if they live in another country. If they lived in another country I would want to know what they eat.
  2. I will make sure I ask strong and PHAT questions. I will check my spacing, spelling and punctuation. I  will make sure to act appropriate online and not say any personal information.
  3. I thought it was worth it because learning peoples culture can be similar or different but in my opinion they both are very fascinating.

Which Companies or Products are Likely to be Successful for us?

Before Collaboration
Picture
Reflection Questions:
  1. Which product or company are you most excited about doing? Why?
  2. Why product of company do you think will make the most money for us? Why?
  3. Which products or companies would you be sad to see us get rid of? Why?
  4. Which products or companies should we get rid of? Why?
Answers:
  1. I am most excited about the build it toy kits, because it seems like a fun activity that will provide a good amount of money with everyone getting involved.
  2. The build it toy kits because kids will want to buy it for when they are board or if they want a fun craft to do. I compared it to some other options and since there are so many food allergies in the district we may not be able to sell food. Some other options are extremely dangerous and hard to get people spending there money on something that they could buy from a store.
  3. The built it kits, concessions, wood carving and hydroponic gardening. I wouldn't want those to go because they all seem like fun activities that people would want buy and I think my class would work well together doing these things. I think those thing will be super fun( in my opinion)!
  4. Create a new sport, green screen photography, tie-dye-t-shirts, healthy snack delivery and ebay store. I wouldn't want those because I don't see me doing that stuff along with my classmate, on top of that I don't think these will give us enough money. I also would not want to do it because it can be dangerous it could be just a waste of time and I don't think they are that fun to do( in my opinion).

Which Joints are Most Important?

9/19/2016

Picture

  • Which joint did you choose as our most important joint?
  • Why did you choose that joint?
  • What things would be difficult to do without that joint?
  • What movement can be done without the use of joints? (Example: blinking your eyes)

  • I thought hips are the most important joint.
  • I chose it because I imagined every step we take every move it seems like we are taking every move with our hips. I move a lot in the classroom, outdoors, and even just in the house and with me I am always moving when I walk, jog and run by using my hips.
  • It would be difficult to walk, run, jog or even getting up and sitting down. You would not be able to get place to place. When we walk with our legs our hips must move with it.
  • Stick out your tongue, wiggling your ears, moving your eyebrows up and blinking your eyes ( Sorry Mr. Solarz, just had to do blinking your eyes)!

Where Do Bones Move?

9/14/2016

What do bones do?
  • They allow us to stand up tall.
  • They protect everyones organs.
  • They allow muscles to move around.

  • Gliding joints
  • Neck ,ankles and wrists

Fun Facts from a slide show
What is a joint?
  • Joints are where two or more bones meet. Which causes motion.
   Hinge joints
Joints are a hinge joint so an elbow, knees and fingers.

A ball and socket joint
  • A ball and joint socket are when a formed like ball fit into a socket. A ball and socket is one that fits in like a ball and one fits in like a socket. A ball and a socket is like hips and shoulders.
  • All bones are halo but it has Bone marrow inside of it. So we can have muscles they do not weigh a ton.
  • We have both red and white blood cells.
  • There are paper like flakes around all of our bones, made up of one layer of blood cells.
  • Bones is like armor that protect your organs.
  • The liver, pancreas and spleen are not protected by our bones.
  • Babies have about 270 bone along with an adult who only has 260.
  • The bones don't bend, and they can only move where they come together.
  • Our back is not perfectly straight and it goes in and out.
  • Cells form when we grow or when we get hurt.
  • Pivot allows you to move from side to side.

How do We Move

9/9/2016

We heard:

I heard heavy breathes being taken.
Our feet pounding on the ground.
My shirt ruffling around.
My shoelace tip bouncing on my shoe
We saw:

Ashley's legs bouncing up and down.
Her face got red.
Her hair bouncing up and down.
After time she started to slow down.
We felt:
 I
felt my heart pounding and my legs getting sore.
My breaths kept getting heavier and heavier.
I felt my body going slower and slower.
My arms started to loose the directions they were going.
Picture
  • What three basic things do our bodies need in order survive?
  • If we exert ourselves, what are three (or more) signs that our bodies are in distress? Explain why our body does that (research it if you need to).
  • What can we do to make these signs go away?
  • We all need oxygen, water and food.
  • We have muscle pain, panting, and red face. We have muscle pains because, once we start moving our bodies around for a while the muscles gets tired of working after long periods of time. Muscles also start becoming sore. We start panting because, of the oxygen moving in and out of your lungs then you realize that you only have so much fast energy and so much slow energy. When you move faster you pant faster. We have red faces because, once you are pushing our body to a limit you get hotter and hotter, meaning the more energy put into something the more red faced you get and tired.
  • All of these signs can go away by relaxing  your body. Muscle pains is sitting down or stretching your body. Panting is drinking water and sitting down. Finally, red face is taking a hot shower or drinking lots of water.

Picture
  • There was a house and the people who owned the house were poor.
  • Jessie's parents died and Jessie lives with her grandma.
  • Jessie told her grandmother she should tried to read and write.
  • Grandmother tells Jessie she should learn how to start sewing.
  • The villagers boasted about there talents to the rabi because they wanted to go to america.
  • The rabi decided that Jessie will go to America and told her she had to sew in america.
  •  Jessie was in a sick feeling and was sad because she would leave her grandma.
  • Grandma
  • Since Jessie looks like she only 12 years old so she must be very scared to go on a ship and leave her family.
  • Jessie's grandma started packing Jessie's bags.
  • She would pack a bunch of lace for when she got to America she used that lace to sew.
  • Jessie gave her grandma her mom's wedding ring.
  • I think Jessie gave the ring because she knew that grandma would need the ring more that she did.
  • While Jessie was on the ship there was bad weather and she ate her soup alone.
  • I think Jessie was lonely, sad and confused because she ate her soup alone, missed her Grandma and confused because she didn't seem to know if she sails back or live in America.
  • When Jessie got used to the ship Jessie started sewing peoples clothes and started socializing.
  • Jessie met a boy named Lou and started hanging out together on the ship.
  • The crew and Jessie saw the statue of liberty so the ship took off after eighteen eighty five.
  • Now when she docked she checked in and I found out that she is 13.
  • Jessie saw cousin K and cousin K was thrilled to see Jessie.
  • Jessie's friend Lou was gone after a second.
  • Jessie wrote a letter to her grandma saying how much she missed her and about her time at America.
  • Jessie made a dress and a lady thought why not I bought it.
  • After the lady bought a wedding dress more customers came in which means more money is made at the store.
  • Jessie started school and started learning English.
  • When Jessie saw Lou they started kept making plans at the park.
  • Jessie came over to Lous house he asked if he could marry Jessie said soon.
  • Jessie said soon because she wanted her grandma to meet Lou.
  • The jar was filled with coins and bought a ticket to America and sended it to Grandma.
  • Grandma came to America and saw Jessie and grandma gave Jessie her moms wedding ring.
  • When Jessie got the ring she could marry Lou so that why she gave her the ring and also so she could come live with her Grandma.

Questions:
  1. What did you think of this book? What did you like and what did you dislike?
  2. This was historical fiction. What do you like about historical fiction and what don't you like?
  3. When the book ended, what were you thinking about? What are you still wondering or wish you'd know more about? Why do you want to know?

Answers:
1. I thought this book was entertaining and very well written. I liked when Jessie was saving up to buy her Grandma a ticket to America, although I disliked when when Jessie was crying by herself on the boat because she missed her Grandma. I liked the action in this story so it was very pleasent.

2. A thing I like about historical fiction is, how most of those books have an author that has a great mind set and a great vision in there writing format. I do not like if the character in the historical fiction book, must have had a unfortunate life and or sad life.

3. When the book ended I thought about comparing things now and things back in that time period. I wondered after when Lou and Jessie got married if they had kids or other important events in their life. I want to know because it could lead to phases that are very fortunate, unfortunate, sad and or exciting, as well as to see how much Jessie has grown in the past years.

  • When destroyed it turns brown.
  • It also smells like a light non- sweetened honey
  • Why were you able to observe so many things about your apple today?
  • Why is observation and description so important in science?
  • Rank order the five senses in the order or your observations (i.e. which sense was used most, second most, etc.).
  • I was able to observe the apple because I had useful materials such as toothpicks, magnifying glasses and we got to take a picture of the apple. Another thing that allowed me to observe the apple more, was Mr. Solarz cut all the apples in half.
  • Description and observation are important because, they help you do science! Description is important because with out it we could not write anything down in specific detail, and that leads to not knowing what you wrote down. Observation is important because, science would not be fun any more, and observing is using your materials and taking a risk.
  • Down below im ranking

    1. see
     2. touch
    3. hear
    4. smell
     5. taste ( We never actually tasted the apple)

Picture
  • Henry is proud of his house despite how ugly it looks.
  • Everybody said Henry will fix his own house but Henry never did.
  • Thinks positive about his house while other are negative.
  • Every where Henry went people started whispering about Henry and his house.
  • People judge his house.
  • Henry gets told on what he should do with his yard but Henry didn't budge.
  • The persuading complained to the mayor, the mayor said be nice to him and maybe he will fix his house.
  • One night Henry thought why did I even come here, and left the next day.
  • During the time Henry was gone his neighbors felt bad and thought maybe we were wrong about Henry and his house.
  • Maybe things in life aren't perfect or the way you want it, but maybe if you didn't have those things in life it would not be different.
  • Henry used to thought why did I come here but once he left he wanted to come back.
  • The neighbors thought they wouldn't miss him while Henry was gone but after a while they missed him a lot.
  • That day Henry wrote to the towns mayor because Henry wanted to come back.
  • Why are so many people against Henry just because of his house?
  • I predict Henry will come back even though he left.
  • I think his neighbors do not realize that Henry is a nice man, and he just likes things a little different than others.
  • In my opinion a good character trait for Henry is different or respectful, because he shows this by respecting other people and differently he doesn't have the same lifestyle or he thinks differently than others.
  • Based on the cover of the book Henry seemed like a mean man, but in real life he was actually very kind!

    Elizabeth Smith

I am Elizabeth Smith, a doctor from London, United Kingdom. It would be very important to have a doctor on the first manned mission to Mars because it would be safer and people can be covered with healthy lifestyles. I can save lives and help people become more healthy, suited and or ready for this mission. I am excited to go on this adventure because it is a great opportunity to learn life lessons and skills with the help of others. Learning more about other cultures and continuing to be a responsible person can be an adventure that I will take to Mars!
