Why is it important to use models when explaining or teaching things?
What are some limitations of models? (What makes them imperfect?)
How did you decide on the model that you chose for this video? What made it the best model for the job? (Why didn't you choose a different model?)

Answers:

It helps people get a good visual of the thing you are teaching them. They are especially good for confusing concepts that are hard to understand.
You can't make models with exact detail or else you would have to take a really long time. And some regular models take a while to create.
I chose this model because it represented the earth the most. You could poke holes in the ball to make the axis. It was also very easy to move the model around and demonstrate the sun shining on it.

State Of Nature Story

Living in a state of nature would be fun because, there would be no rules and you could do whatever you want! There would be no one to stop you because there would be no rules or laws against you! Plus you wouldn't have to go to school and you could ditch boring activities.

I would not want to live in a state of nature because, people could take away your rights. And there would be people dominating and taking control of other people because they could do whatever they want. There would be no separations of power and you couldn't choose who you want to give your power to. It would just be overall bad.

What patterns did you notice about the shadow length throughout the day?
What caused these patterns?
When you analyzed your shadow graphs, when did the longest shadows occur? Why?
When you analyzed your shadow graphs, when did the shortest shadows occur? Why?
What was the most challenging part of this lesson?
What do you feel you learned from completing this lesson?

Answers
1. The shadows changed throughout the day. It went from long to short and then to long again. It also went to the opposite side of the page.
2. The thing that caused these patterns was the sun. When the sun changed positions in the sky, the shadows would change along with it. The it rose, it was in the east, so the shadow was in the west, and vise versa.
3. The longest shadow occurred at 9:25 AM. I think this happened because it was the closest time we went outside to sunrise or sunset.
4. The shortest shadow was at 12:05PM. It was like this because the sun was at it's highest peak for the day. When the sun is high, it has an angle that makes the shadows short.
5. The hardest part about this lesson to me was the check in we did. We had to stick a bolt through the paper, and see where the shadows would go. It was hard to figure it out and you had to read the directions really carefully.
6. I feel that I know the pattern of the sun and where the shadows are going to be according to the pattern. I also feel like I know where the shadows are going to be a different times of day.
