Dubai

My teacher, Mr. Solarz, was fortunate enough to travel to Dubai last week for an education conference and to meet former Top 50 Global Teacher Prize candidates for the Varkey GEMS Global Teacher Prize. He shared his unbelievable experience with us, and here are some things that I learned from our discussion:

I learned that no matter what culture, race, or any other thing, we are all more alike than we are different. We get to know each other more once we get to know each other, and when we learned about their background, we become friends.
I learned about different types of cultures and how people distribute their marbles. I learned about the way people are kind to others even though they might have mental illness.
I also learned that the president of the Varki foundation believes that no matter how rich or poor you are, you should always give to the poorer until the point where it effects you in a way

Answers:

1. I chose this poem simply because it is a funny poem and is fun to read out loud. I like the author in Shel Silverstein and it just really makes you laugh. This is different from other poems because it is a short poem that ends abruptly and it leaves you smiling.
2. The thing I like about poetry is that it is easy to read and makes you laugh. It comes in all different shapes and forms, and it is just a fun short read!

Answers:

1. I learned about what the women rights were back then and what life was like in general. It really told us good information and gave fun facts as well.
2. Agnes Morley Cleaveland changed the world by playing in the first women basketball game. She helped people realize that women had the same rights as men and could do all the same things they could.
3. I could inspire people by acting kind to others so they could pay it forward. Then people would realize the meaning of being kind and how it can effect the world.
