If the World were a Village

4/4/2017

Notes: Page 7
  • In 2012, The worlds population was about 7, 050,000,000.
  • In this village there will be one person representing 70,000 people.
  • our Villiage will be called the Global Village
We read in this page that we will be turning the world into a village and will be using percents as people.

Notes: Page 8
  • We will count the size of the groups as countries
  • The Highest countries with have big gruops with a lot of people
  • The population will be about 60% from Asia
Most people from the global village will come from Asia and bigger countries

Notes: 10
  • You can say everything in a different language
  • There are almost 6,000 different languages in the Global Village
  • Some People speak at least 8 different languages in our Global Village
We learned that it will be a little hard to speak to everybody in our Village so we will have to try our best.

Notes: 12
  • 20% of the world is under ten years old
  • If your older 30 you are considered old
  • Counties are getting bigger and smaller
  • Half of the People are over 30
There will be a bunch of different aged people and some wont live long and some might live to be over 79, the better healthcare we get the longer we will live.

Notes: Page 14
  • SO many people have religions
  • Almost/About half of the people will have a religion
There will be a LOT of people with completely different religions and we need to respect them.

Notes: Page 17
  • there are different foods due to different cultures or religions
  • besides the animals there are other foods to
  • Beans, corn,  vegtables, and more
  • There is enough food for the entire village to eat but some dont get the food equally
  • Some peple only have a handful of food
  • 30% are just living
  • 17% of them die from not enough food
We will need to provide food from everybody, because most people die from living without food and some people become spoiled from having to much food.

Notes: Page 18
  • Some of the world doesn't have fresh air and Drinkable water
  • Mostly girls and woman would do the water carrying and walking
  • 62% of the world has drinkable water and good systems
  • 38% of the world will become ill or have to travel long distances to get water.
This page taught me that we need to stop wasting  water and help those who don't have water in some way

Notes: Page 21
  • Some children don't Have schools
  • Some children need to stay home and help there families
  • 16% of the worlds children don't go to school
  • Some children act as slaves and work in fields and factories
  • 14% should be able to read but cant read at all
  • Girls will normally not be sent to school because people think boys will have a better chance of getting  a job
Some people cant go to school and they might not have a good enough career and might end up homeless or just surviving

Notes: Page 22
  • Some people have really fancy cars and some have one bicycle
  • Some  people have a Few dollars and some people are billionaires
  • Most of the time people are broke and working their butt off and some are homeless
  • Some of the poorest people make only two dollars a day
  • Half the people in the village only get 6 dollars a day.
There are almost no money or people hog the most of the money and some  people don't survive because they have none.

Notes: Page 24
  • One fourth of the world has no electricity
  • Three fourths do have electricity
Most of the world has no electricity and some cant live without it , and so we need to make sure we will all have at least some.

Notes: Page 27
  • Malaria is one of the biggest problems we have in the world
  • lots of places don't have the medication or vaccines to be able to live
Health is a big problem, and most places don't have the sources we have and they are getting lower and lower population which will decrease in the future and will wipe out our civilization.

Write about the following in paragraph format. (Don't respond to these questions individually. Incorporate them all into a paragraph.)
  • Explain what surprised you about the statistics of our world.
  • What upset you?  What do you wish were different?
  • What made you want to do something to improve a situation?
  • Can you do anything to help? If so, what?

Also, include an appropriate image of some sort that goes with what you are saying (and give credit).:

  1. What did you learn while reading this book?
  2. How did the person change the world / what effect did he/she have on other people?
  3. How can this person inspire you to help others?
  1. I learned that you REALLY shouldn't judge people by their race or even at all. everybody is as smart and beautiful as everyone else.
  2. She proved that just because your skin isn't white, you are just as smart as everybody else.
  3. It can inspire everyone around the world. To do whatever they want if they believe they can honestly do so.
