1. What is the definition of a tessellation in your own words?
2. What was the hardest part of creating a tessellation or learning about tessellations?

Answers:
1: A tessellation is a shape that is in the middle and it needs to tessellate up down left and right with no gaps or overlaps.
2: The hardest part about creating a tessellation or learning about it was that it was kinda really confusing at first but now I kinda know!
3: My pattern block tessellation is TRULY a tessellation because it really does go up down left and right with no gaps or overlaps.

The reason why authors put illustrations and photographs into books is because other people who read the book can visualize what the photo looks like and understand it.

Captions and Labels:

The reason why authors put captions and labels into books is because it helps people who read the book to understand more about the picture or photograph.

Maps:

The reason why authors put maps into books is because it helps the reader understand where things are in the world and where they can find stuff around the world.

Introduction:

The reason why authors put introductions into books is because readers can get interested

Headings:
The reason why authors put headings into books is because it helps readers understand what a section is about. So if a reader wants to find a specific section, then he/she can  just skim the book and find what they are looking for.

Subheadings:
The reason why authors put subheadings into books is because it helps readers understand what a subsection is about.

Types of Print:
The reason why authors put different types of prints into books is because it helps readers by telling them that the word that is bold is important to look at.

Timeline:
The reason why authors put timelines into books is because it helps the reader understand and learn about the different time periods and events that was important to the book.

Bibliography:
The reason why authors put a bibliography into a book is because it lists all the information that the author used to create the book. So if the reader wants to check out a different book or a website they can just look at the bibliography and see what the author used.

Bullets, Asterisks, and Stars:
The reason why authors put bullets, asterisks, and stars is because it helps the reader find important facts or information that he or she is looking for.

Inserts and Sidebars:
The reason why authors put sidebars and inserts inside books is because it helps readers understand more important information and important events in the book that he or she is reading.

Table of Contents:
The reason why authors put the table of contents into every single book they right is because it helps the reader see the topics in the book and in the order that they are put in in the book. Like in this picture here ->
number 1 is first in the book and number 2 is second in the book and so on.

Index:
The reason why authors put an index into a book is because it helps the reader get specif information from the text that they need or were looking for.

Diagrams and Cutaways:
The reason why authors put diagrams and cutaways into books is because it lets the reader understand the information in a diagram/cutaway more clearly and easier. 

Charts and Graphics:
The reason why authors put charts and graphics into books is because it helps the reader visualize the information they they are reading. 

Glossary:
The reason why authors put a glossary into a book is because if the reader does not know a word or what it means, they can just look in the back of the book for a glossary. So technically the glossary is like a mini dictionary in the back of the book.

• Reference Nonfiction: Yes
• Literary Nonfiction: No
• Biography: No

 I notice that reference nonfiction books are good for finding good facts if you want to find facts on that typical topic. I also noticed that for reference nonfiction you don't have to read cover to cover and that it has real photographs about the topic. I love this book because it has amazing facts about lizards!

Arrow Hawk: Which Type of Nonfiction is this an example of?

• Reference Nonfiction: No
• Literary Nonfiction: Yes
• Biography: No

 I noticed that literary nonfiction is a story about nonfiction so instead of photographs, it has illustrations! I also noticed that it gives me lots of information about hawks!

Women Explorers: Which Type of Nonfiction is this an example of?

• Reference Nonfiction: No
• Literary Nonfiction: No
• Biography: Yes

 I noticed that this Biography book has more than one biography so you don't have to read this book from cover to cover but most of them has only one person in the biography. I also noticed that this that this book has illustrations instead of photographs but it doesn't always happen in every book and that this book is full of information on Women Explorers!

Stop and Jots:

• Character Trait: Via is compassionate. She cares about Justin enough to convince him he is going to be OK remember his lines. Not every friend/girlfriend cares as much as she does.
• I think that Justin's wish was that he could remember his lines for the play because in the chapter, the author said that Justin was having a hard time remember his lines. Or maybe that Justin and Via will become the best friends and girlfriend and boyfriend.
• I think that Via wished for Justin to come back to hang out more because she really likes her so does Justin.
• I think that three boys are Julian and the 2 other boys Miles and Henry because Julian was mad that Jack punched him in the nose and the 2 boys were probably Julian's body guards because he asked them to.
• I am predicting a contrast and contrition because I think that Justin will turn a bit tough to protect Jack from Julian, Henry and Miles because Justin knows that Jack is being bullied because the boys are mean.
• I think Miranda really really cares about Auggie because like Justin cares about Via's family so Miranda also cares about Via's family in the same way.

• I wonder why Auggie does not want to be called Auggie Doggie. He always liked that name.

• Why would Miranda want to make stuff up about her life. Mostly she is lieng with the stuff that Auggie has. She is probably lieing because Augusts life seems much better than hers.

• I wonder why Justin has a big pointy end on his suit case?

• I wonder why Justin is always saying "um"? Is he lying and doesn't want to tell anyone.

• I wonder how old Justin is because he has terrible punctuation and capitalization?
  
• I wonder if Justin is mad that Auggie said "I'm from Brooklyn!" I guess not but why wouldn't he?
  
• Justin is really confident to ask Via out! I wonder why other boys are not? You just get a "no" from the girl and then you just find a different person in life that might be a bit better.
  
• In the past, people who came over to see Auggie, never came back to seem him or have a second play date so that is why Via is worried that Justin won't come back to have a hang out.
  
• Via is really nice because she wants to be a geneticist so she can find different cures for people like her brothers.
  
• Justin's mom lives in a poor place in Brooklyn Heights and his dad lives in a kinda rich place in Chelsea. I wonder if Justin's dad got all the money from his mom?

1. I am looking forward to meeting Janette Lundahl because she seems like she had an interesting life. I also would like to meet her because I would like to know how to spin thread.
2. I am looking forward to meeting Captain John Ira Parke because he seems really smart and he had a cool life. I would also like to seem him because he seems fun.

Summarize your experience at the Historical Reenactment by writing about what you learned, the connections you made to your experience in 1775 Boston, and what you liked or disliked. Try to show me how valuable of an experience this was. If you write "in character" (as an apprentice visiting Illinois) it will possibly be more fun! ->

     We learned many things from these people. We also liked  this field trip because they taught us so much. For example, if you were a frontiersman you would have to walk to the nearest settlement even if it was 20 miles away. When you were a person like them you would eat only one big meal in the middle of the day. The worst thing about being a frontiersman would have to get used to not having much food. We liked this person because he taught us how hard life would be as a frontiersman.  We also learned about the life of a trapper and fur trader. The thing we thought was most interesting was one beaver coat was 2 thousand two-hundred dollars. We were thinking to about the price of flat screen T.V because they are both the same price( the flat screen in this time and the beaver skin during their time) . He also taught us that trappers would like to catch beavers because of the warmth of there  fur to make hats and trade them. He even showed us the  beaver trap and how they used them. He also told us that a gun was easier than the beaver trap. We liked him because he told us so much valuable information.  This whole experience was so valuable because everybody knew what the were talking about and it was easy for kids to understand.

• Jack is flash backing on the first day of school that he was not sitting with Auggie.
