1. How did your body respond when the ball of paper was thrown at you?
2. How would this reflex protect your eyes if the transparency had not been there?
   

1. Me: I definitely blinked. I flinched at how loud the sound was when the paper ball hit the transparency sheet. I think I kept my eyes closed until the ball fell. I was kind of startled. Partner: Blinked and kind of flinched, he kind of backed up-barely
2. My eyes would have closed so I didn't get poked by the paper. It is a good reflex to have.

1. Can you feel it when your pupils dilate?
2. Do you have any control over your pupils when they dilate?
3. What do we call this when a reflex happens without our control?
4. Why do our pupils get bigger in the dark and smaller in the light?
5. How does this reflex protect our eyes?

1. No, I can not feel my pupils dilate.
2. I really don't have any control over it. Well I could turn the lights back off, close my eyes, or shield my eyes with my hands. But other than that no.
3. We could call it an unplanned reflex. Or a thing to be grateful for. Our bodies protect us without us thinking about it.
4. The get bigger and smaller to let in light. This allows us to have the right amount of light in our eyes to see.
5. This reflex is very important because if our eyes didn't dilate we would take in too much light and then become blind. Or we wouldn't be able to see.
