Watery Earth Lesson 7: My water Molecule's Journey

One day I was just floating in the lake surrounded by all my little molecules friends. As we were streaming along i felt something weird… I couldn't see my friends I was invisible! Oh my gosh! I was getting evaporated. This was so exciting and scary because It was my first time but I didn't know what to do. So I just sat there thinking what would happen next. But as I was waiting I saw something. As I came closer I saw a giant cloud and then I was stuck to it! Was this supposed to happen? I think it was because I heard all of my friends say we made it! So I asked the molecule next to me what happened. He told me that all of us just got evaporated into a cloud. And we were all condensed. He explained everything and what it meant. I thought to myself oh I just went through a lot but it was exciding. But then I had nothing to do so I just listen to what other people were saying and how they felt about this. But then again there I was feeling something weird… We were moving to another place dark and gloomy. “Oh no the dark side!!!” I yelled

“No silly we're going to be precipitated” Oh that makes a lot more since I thought to myself. But then as I saw my friends leaving I wanted to join. But It was to late and the cloud got blown away to another place. When we got to the place we were going to be released, All I saw was a garden… but way bigger, A jungle. The cloud stopped and I saw more people getting released. Then my time came. I was just at the end and I dropped. I was falling so fast that I hit a tree. But as I was sitting on the branch of the tree this long tailed brown furry monkey looked me in the eye. He hopped away but stepped on me I was all over his paw. He licked me off and later he was sweating and I fell with all of my friends again in our home lake.

Prediction

I think it will absorb and then drip through

I think it wont absorb at all it will just sit there

I think the seeds will just become damp and the water will leak through

I think the string will absorb it and then the water will sit in the cup

Actual

The paper did what my prediction was is soaked through and then sank to the bottom of the cup

The prediction was right and it didn't absorb

The water sat on the seeds and stayed there

The water sat on the string and stayed there until it fell to the bottom

Reflection

I was not surprised because the paper was very absorbent

I was not surprised that the grass did not have the water absorbed

I was surprised because I would expect it would expect it to absorb

I was surprised because usally it would become wet

1. Which materials surprised you the most? Why?
2. Which materials do you still wonder about? How do you think water will respond to that material?

1. the material that surprised me the most was the string because it was like fabric so I thought that it would get wet but it didn't.
2. A piece of cardboard, I think the water would stay there and then it would absorb in a matter of time.

Science Fair Presentation- First Draft

I'm glad I recorded my science fair presentation before because:

I had more practice with talking
I had ideas on what to say to the kids when they ask questions

Science Fair Presentation- Improved version

By the end my presentation was better because:

I was more prepared, by talking to the kids and answering questions
I wasn't nervous when I was speaking

Reflection: I think the science fair was valuable because it could be used for when we are older for more presentations. I made some mistakes but I learned from them by slowing down when I talk so I don't stutter. If I could do something different I would re due some of my answers to the kids questions, to word them better.

3. What will you do differently when we meet Mrs. Arce's class?

1. When I meet my partner he was very quiet and settle. But when we were in the middle of talking he started to warm up to me and told me what he liked to do. At the end he liked talking to me.
2. Yes he did because he was good at everything I asked him to do and I know he was feeling good about him self because he was really happy.
3. What I will do differently is talk like I'm there age becaue he didnt under stand half the things I was saying.

Lesson 5 - How Botanists Use Water

Botanists use water in many many different ways. One example is when they go to work, they have to water every single plant in their work space. When Botanist water their plants they have to watch the amount of water they use to put in the plants, if they water the plants and use to much water the plants could die. Without Botanists the plants in some part of the world would die. The plants that could die are very delicate plants and are very small and not noticeable. These reasons are they are special plants. Besides watering the plants at the Botanists jobs the plants help the workers because sometimes at their job the plants have to get nutrients from the plants that the scientist have to study to see of the plant(s) are healthy or not, sometimes the scientist have to study if the plants are poisonous or not to humans or maybe even animals. Some ares of the work place if a very special and of limits place. This is because the plants are one of a kid or the scientist are possibly making new plant to human kind. The plants in the wild are sometimes poisonous to animals because some animals are not used to that kind of environment. Some animals can die from these kinds of plants. Botanists not only study plants on the earth they can also study the plants in water like seaweed. Seaweed can be very unique in very many ways. One way is that plants on earth are used to water, like getting watered like 1 a week or so, seaweed lives in water, and can use it all day everyday. Seaweed is different because when seaweed is released of of there stationary place were they were growing it turns into nothing because it is a dead peace of seaweed floating at the top of the water, and normal earth plants turn brown when they are detached.

Lesson 4 - How Lobsters Use Water

Lobsters are very unique sea creatures. One unique thing about them is that they don't always have to be a bright red. Some of the lobsters n the world can be a bright blue! Lobsters can also be like humans they carry the babies/young's for nine months until it is time to let them go. Lobsters however are somewhat different from humans, lobsters can live over a 100 years old. Usually a normal human will live to the age of 80-90. Lobsters don't always stay in one place every year they travel to a distance of 100 miles or over.

How Humans And Lobsters Use Water

Humans

Humans drink water when we are thirsty and not to live in a huge body of water
Humans are different because we stay one color depending on what our skin color is not a bright blue
Humans do not live in water unlike lobsters can stay there all their life.

Both

Lobsters and humans can be in water for somewhat a period of time
Lobsters and humans can both travel a long distance about 100 miles or more
We can also be the same because teenage lobsters and humans can stay up fora long period of time

Lobsters

Lobsters live in water unlike humans just drink it
Lobsters can turn blue or they can be just born with it
Lobsters can live in water for as long as thy want unlike humans we can only stay in water for a certain amount of time before we need to breathe again.

Reflection:1.Why is water considered a "Natural Resource?" 2.How is water essential to our survival and the survival of all living things?

Answers: Water is considered a natural recourse because no man on earth made water water has been on this earth for as long as it goes. Water is useful because we drink it to survive and we also use it to stay clean.

You cant always solve the kids problems just by doing it yourself let them understand

1. My dad because he is my basketball coach and he knows I can do better then what I'm always doing. Also my mom because she helps me reach my best.
2. My friends Stacy,Nicole,and Kendall because they can trust me with a lot of what they need help with.
3. My superpower is empathy because a lot of the time I feel what there going through.
4. A lot of the time I use empathy because kids in my class are stressed because of the work we have and I try to help them with it.
5. The thing that weakens me is to much pressure to do something.
6. I will make sure they feel better about themselves by once again having empathy to understanding what they need help with and what they are perfectly fine with.

1. The most common is Drinking water, Showers, and Water balloon fights. I think this is common because this is and usual everyday life thing.
2. The most unusual is Wetting Bed, Cooking, And the last is a water bed. These are unusual because you don't use these things in a normal day situation.
