Watery Earth Lesson 7:My Water Molecule's Journey

4/30/2015

Once opun a time in a very very dry place I landed on after crashing from space. I am very tiny and notice that is raining on me. Raining and raining every day, all day. But then one day It stopped I was part of a huge ocean flowing against the tides. I was getting pushed away to the shore. But then I was part of a riptide. Huh, huh, iii'm getting huh pushed huh back huh to huh seeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaa!!!!
The next thing I know, I was in a long river. All around me was a bunch of jungles. I was floating down the river and become part of a huge lake. Then a huge monkey oh wait it was a gorilla and he drank me. Then I turn up in a T-rex's  stomach. He was running and then I got percipated  out of his armpit. I flew through the sky and I thought, " I belliieve I can flllyy. I beliiieevvvee I can touch the skyyy." SPLAT I accumulated into a huge ocean. Then I get evaporated into the cloud before you could say three. I floated over to another water molecule. I asked, "where did you come from". He said, " I got transpired from a tree into this very cloud. Now turn up that music. This is my jam." Eventually it got very crowded and then we had to leave and got percipated  down to the earth. I flew down like a rocket and splashed into a pool. I looked around me and saw I was in a pool outside a mansion. Then a person with a swimsuit on cam out and jumped into the pool. Then I noticed it was Micheal Jordan!!! And then he got out of the pool and dried off. Then I got evaporated and went through the water cycle again. I finally landed in a lake where I got sucked into a tube at super fast speeds! I flew thought the piped like a rocket and finally got to a factory. I got cleaned by a water filter that made me feel much much better and the next thing you know I was in a water bottle.
Then a huge human opened up the door to the huge frig and toke the water bottle I was in out. His Mom said," Aidan were waiting." Then he drank me down and I landed in his stomach.

Watery Earth Lesson 6 - Drops of Water on Different Surfaces

4/28/2015

Surface

Sticks on a tree
Dandelions
Grass
Dirt
Rock

Prediction

I think that the water will drip down the side of the stick and  eventually stop at the bottom of the cup.
I think the flowers will absorb the water once it goes into the middle of the flower.
I think the water will run down the side of the grass like a waterfall.
I think the dirt will make the dirt very wet because the dirt will kind've absorb it.
I think the water will lan on the rock and stay there, but some might drip down.

Actual

The water just layed on the stick and did not drip down at all.
The water that landed on the dandelions partly git absorbed and partly stayed on the flowers.
The water landed on the grass and the bottom of the cup.
The water did get absorbed into the dirt part and the rest stayed on the woodchips.
The water did stay on top of the rock and some water did drip down.

Reflection

I was very surprised because I thought that the water would drip down not just lay there.
I was not that surprised because the water did partly absorb and the rest just stayed there which I kind of thought would happen.
I am kind've surprised that the water landed on the grass.
I am not surprised because I thought that would happen and that is what happened.
I am not surprised that this happened because I knew the rock wouldn't absorb it so it had to just lay there.
  1. Which materials surprised you the most? Why?
  2. Which materials do you still wonder about? How do you think water will respond to that material?
1.The Grass and the stick because for the grass  the water stayed on the grass. Also the water stayed on the stick instead of dripping down.
2. I think water will splash into the water. I wonder that because I've heard lots of other opinions.

Science Fair Presentation-First Draft

I'm glad I recorded my presentation video before the Science Fair because:
  • Then I could get an idea of what to say during the Science Fair
  • Also because then I could see what I did wrong and right.

Science Fair Presentation-Improved Version

By the End of the Science Fair, my presentation was much better because:
  • Because I had done it over and over again and figured out which way to say it
  • Also because I knew what to say
  1. Overall, I think that the Science Fair was a valuable experience because...
  2. I definitely made some mistakes along the way, but I learned from them. Here are some examples...
  3. If I were given the chance to do anything differently, I would...
1. I got to figure out something that I wanted to know. Also because I got to show it to other people.
2. One Mistake that I made was that I had trouble pronouncing some numbers. Another mistake was that I kept saying the same things over and over.
3. I would probably add more decorations to my board. Also I would probable change the backround of my slides.

  1. Write a definition for Man-Made Resources (in your own words) and Natural Resources.
  2. Why is "water" considered a Natural Resource?
  3. List three or more Natural Resources that you use daily.
1. Man-made resources are things that people have made that you can use. Natural resources are things that the earth made and that we can use. Other resources are things that people or the earth have not made, but we can use them.
2. Water is a Natural resource because the earth made water and we can use it. We can use it by playing in it, drinking it,etc.
3. Water, ice, and grass are all things I use in my day-to-day life.

1. I Iskandar Alatas from Indonesia learned about Mars before I went there. We figured out what to bring and what are personal supplies were.  Then once that was done we blasted off to Mars. Once we were in space we decided a name and a spot to land.

Watery Earth Lesson 1: My Water Story

4/2/2015

I was in Flagler Beach, Florida floating in the ocean jumping into waves that I thought were pretty big. I just got back from the bathroom walking into the ocean. Immediately once I got in the water I thought I was going to die. It was so freezing I thought I was in the Middle of the Arctic without any jacket. I waddled farther out to shore to get the best waves.

First a little tiny wave splashed me, and I told the ocean, “ Weeeaakk. Is that all you’ve got.”

BIG Mistake the ocean probably thought, “ Well now you’re getting it.” Cause I saw out in the ocean a wave forming. It started out a little tiny one until it got halfway to me when it started getting bigger. I thought, “ Oh No.”

Even though a little voice in the back of my head said, “ don’t do it, don’t do it.” But Of course I didn’t listen I jumped into and I got DUNKED. My whole body was underwater limp. I finally got enough strength to move. I opened my mouth in slow-motion, but in a second water filled it up. I flailed and said, “ Blahh.” Finally I rocketed out of the water spitting out gallons of water.

I said with my hands in the air, “ I SURVIVED.” Then Immediately after I said it another wave dunked me underwater.  Luckily this was a smaller one so I got back up spitting out water again. My mouth tasted digusting because It felt like I had 50 pounds of salt in there. Finally I got out of the water knowing I was done.
