What do I know? They are filming a movie about this historic event called The 33. In this accident, 33 men were trapped underground for 69 days and came out alive. This accident happened nearly five years ago. What did I learn? I learned many things about the Copiapó mining accident and how did the miners survive. A fun fact that I learned is that the rock or boulder that fell on the miners was nearly 45 stories tall! Another fun fact I learned was that many of the miners were left unemployed after the accident. | What do I want to know? I want to know how the miners survived and I also want to know What did the miners do to survive. What action did I take? I took the actions of seeing if websites were trustworthy and looking for facts that stood out. Another action I took was not watching YouTube videos. The only video about this mining accident was 45 minutes long. I would not spend that much time watching a YouTube video. | How will I learn this information I will research it on the web with key phrases, watch a video on YouTube, read a book about it, and if I desperately need to, I will watch the movie that came out about it. What questions do I still have? Some questions that I still have are "Did the miners know ahead of time before they got hired that the mine has a chance to collapse?", " Did any miners escape from the mine in time before the 33 miners got trapped?" and " how old is this mine?" |
Reflection: Overall this was a really fun project. I learned many things about the Copiapó mining accident and how the miners survived. My favorite part about this project was learning all about my topic. I probably now know ten times more facts than I knew before I started this project. This is the same way for my other two passion time projects. My least favorite part about this project was that I had a fact that said each miner would have to pay £ 202121.212121 for mining damages. I couldn’t find any website or source that could convert how much £’s is $’s but nothing popped up on the web. I just wish that we all used the same exact money system. I hope others learn many things about this project and tell others.
