What do I Know?

I know penguins walk funny they waddle. Why other animals walk the way they do and the way walk the way do to there environment.

What did I learn?

I leaned why animals walk funny the way they do and how they walk funny. How they walk because of there surroundings.

What do I Want to Know?

Why animals walk the way they do. Why animals walk the way to adapt to there surroundings. And if the way they walk helps them.

What Action Did I Take?

I took my time on websites and pulled a lot of facts out and pulled out facts that helped me figure out why they walk funny.

How will I Learn the Information?

I will search up different animals. That walk funny and figure out why they walk funny and get help from my class mates.

What Questions do I Still Have?

Why do other animals walk funny. And if humans can walk the way animals do. Or people can make a machine that they can make a simulation so we know what it feels like.
Reflection:
I think i did really well and hard because I had to really rush. It was hard to get all the facts and all the animals I did. I got this done in about five days but it was very hard but worth it. One thing is should change next time is have what I want to research before hand. And probably look in some animal books for some facts.

What do I Know?

What do I want to Know?

How will I learn this information?

There are four layers that form the earth a crust, mantle, inner core, and outer core. And some are extremely hot. The inner core is the hottest one. And the crust is the part of the earth that are feet touch when we walk.

What did I Learn?

I learned that all of the earths layer are equally important. Also that the mantle was the biggest layer and takes up 84% of the earth! Also that some layers have different sections that are different temperature.
I want to know if I can I teach others about the earths layers in one writing piece I must be at least a page long. I hope to gather more information and facts about the four earths layers. This is planed to be done in 10 periods.

What Action did we Take?

The action that I took was mostly on steps 3 and 4 on my trello card they were also the most difficult steps to do. it took a lot of work to find out all the facts about all of the earths layers.
I will research about the earths layers, make a drawing of the earths layers put my research on a google slide, and then I will make my video. All of my steps that I will take are in my trello card which is above "what do I know."

What Questions do we still Have?

I still don't know why the earth's crust is the only layer that has a mix of land and water. I would like to find out. The rest I learned during my research time.

Reflection

I Really liked this passion time project and I am glad I did it. I think my video was good but It could have been longer. I also wish that I could have made a website. It would have been cool. I wish that could give some access to my

How Have Mobile Phones Changed Over Time? By: Russell

What Do We Know?

I know that there have been tons of mobile phones that have come out throughout the years and also most phones are different. I know that old phones are super thick and new phones are really cool looking and super thin and light. I also know that phones have evolved a lot from the first phone in 1972 and the latest phone in 2016.

What Did We Learn?

I learned that mobile phones have changed a lot over the years. I learned that most of the first mobile phones only lasted about 30 minutes of battery life and that most of them were made out of plastic. I also learned that most modern cell phones today are not that expensive to the company. When I was looking at some of the websites I learned that there were a lot of budget phones that were pretty good for such a good price.

What Do We Want To Know?

I want to know how mobile phones have changed over time. I also want to know how have the durability of mobile phones changed.

What Action Did We Take?

My product is a website and I chose the website because I like the way Weebly organizes the info and a Google presentation will not display as much info as I would want.

I watch videos and look on different websites to learn my info. I also will ask some people who know about them and get some facts from them too. I will also go off of some of my knowledge and make sure that I am right by researching it again too make sure that all the info is right.

What Questions Do We Still Have?

The questions that I still have are what is it like to use a phone that is super old. Like the motorola dynatac. Some other questions I have are what will future phones be like to hold and to use.

Refection

My experience when learning how mobile phones have changed over time was a great learning experience. I thought it was good because I learned a lot from researching and actually holding an old phone. I think I got a lot of my facts from actually experiencing how a mobile phone works and holding some modern and ancient phones. All in all this project was a great learning experience!

Can I Compare and Contrast the Defense Mechanisms of Various Animal Species and Find What Some Animals have in Common? by Regan

12/3/2015

Picture
Picture

What do I KNOW?

I know that different classes and species of animals have a wide variety of ways to defend themselves, and that they have natural enemies that they react differently to.

What Did I LEARN?

I learned that what defense mechanisms an animal has or uses depends on their species, class, natural enemies, natural abilities, their enemy that they are facing currently, and how much danger they are in. Defense mechanisms can come from a species knowing it's natural enemies, and genetically mutating new skills to match or beat their enemies in the race for superior natural weapons.

What do I WANT to Know?

I want to know what some species and classes of animals have in common when it comes to defense mechanisms, and why they do it. I also want to know what goes on in a animal's head when they defend themselves, and if that changes the way they live their life afterwards.

What ACTION did I take?

I created a website that shares most of the information that I learned about my topic and gives credit to the sites I used to learn the information.

HOW Will I Find the Information?

I will use the amazing internet that we have to look up the info I need to create my website. I also already know some things about my topic, so I used those facts as well.

What QUESTIONS Do I Still Have?

I am wondering what exactly goes on in an animal's own part of it's brain when they perform various responses to predator or enemy encounters, and I am wondering why certain animals have certain natural enemies besides the predator-to-prey relationship.

Reflection: I hope that my website will teach people about my topic and that they can use the information to possibly create something of their own. I used just a few websites to get all of the information I needed, which was a little bit difficult at times, but I think once I got most of the basic information, I started to get the hang of it. I had some trouble with uploading the video to YouTube on time, so I had to redo the video three times to actually get it to YouTube. I took most of my time creating the website, and I researched the information as I created the website, which got me all of the information I needed while taking less time overall to thoroughly complete the project.

How do people celebrate Christmas around the world? (Andrew and Mason)

What do we Know?

That Christmas is celebrated differently around the world. Also that there are many different Santa Clauses, and that people get different amount of presents judging on their religion. Also that some religions have a Santa, or elf, or a gnome or all of above.

What did we learn?

We learned a lot of cool facts and here are some examples:
•Children are given candles on boards with clay figures of Mary riding a donkey and Joseph to walk around the streets with
•
The most common Christmas song is Silent Night in Brazil
• Children often of the male gender go out caroling in the streets

What do we Want to Know?

How people celebrate Christmas in different countries, and what it is like to celebrate different traditions. Also how many different versions of Santa there are in the world.

What Action Did we Take?

We Made a google slide instead of a website, because we thought it would be fun to something different for a change.

How will we Learn the Information?

We will go to http://www.whychristmas.com/cultures/ and find our information on there.

What Questions do we Still Have

We are still wondering how people celebrate it in rural areas, because they might not be able to get any special decorations.  Or how Christmas got to almost every where in the world, and how Santa has gotten altered around the world.
Andrew reflection: What was most fun was finding the facts. It was fun because there was a lot cool pictures ( Also yummy ones I wanted eat) and facts. The most difficult thing would be the slide show, because we had to get a lot of slides with just five facts on each slide. The easiest thing would be writing the facts. I think this because we have 12 slides. Witch is pretty good if I say so my self. So in the end Mason and I learned a lot. Some were interesting and some were funny, but finding out how people celebrate Christmas around the world was really fun.
Mason reflection:  I think it's cool that people have diferent Chrismas traditons or stories around the world.  also the traditions are often simaler to ours.  I wonder how the different traditions started.  If everyone in the world were to celabrate Chrismas or any other holiday like otheres around the world I bet that we would discover that our tradicions are simmaler.  I hope you liked our project.

What do we know?

We know that special effects are used in movies to make the character look like they are some type of zombie or some type of monster. They could also use a fog machine or a strobe light to make a outdoors scary theme. With a green screen you are able to put any image or video on a green screen to make a seem like you are somewhere when you really aren't.

What did we learn?

i used to not know how green screens and special FX and now i know all about it and it could be very helpful in the real world

How will I learn the information?

We will learn the information by making videos with a green screen and using different websites to get facts.

What action did we take?

we made a website sevreal videos and talked with people in and out of school i loved this expriance

What do we want to know?

We want to know how they pull of all of the amazing special effects like how they make someone a monster. We also want to know how much green screen and how much equipment they need make the green screen work with all of the amazing pictures and videos.

What questions do we still have

if you can do it with differnt collored screens and if special efects can get rid of your limbs ext. in moives

Ryan Reflection

Stephen Reflection

In this project I think it was really fun to learn how green screens and special effects work. It has been really fun working with my partner because we worked well together and we both knew what we were doing with green screens and fx. It was really fun to make different videos with the green screens and use the strobe light to make a really cool video. It was kind of hard to make the final green screen video and make it on I movie.

What do I know?
Cars are really hard to draw if there supposed to be realistic.
What did I learn?
I learned that it is not to hard to draw a car. That drawing cars is very fun. That I am a good artist even if I traced them.
What do I want to know?
If I can easily draw a sports car when I am done with this project.
What action did we take?
I Drew a lot traced and made this video above. It was really fun how I got to show people how to draw cars.I loved how I got to draw what I loved.
How will I get the information?
How to draw books and tutorials on you tube and my brain.
What questions do I still have?
1.Can people who are artist draw really fast and can I do that.
2.Is there a more efficient/easier way to draw cars .

Reflection

This was a very fun project and I loved how Ben could help me at any given time and we could just talk cars/what I should draw and it was awesome. But I didn't like that it took me so long to make a car so my goal is to be faster at drawing. If you practice you can draw any thing easily without tracing without pictures just a pencil and paper! I believe that did I did a nice job.

What do I Know?

I know that previous tanks have been fast but Germans tanks have been some of the best tanks.  Take the Tiger II for example (Tank in the upper left) that tank was in World War II that had thick armor a good gun and pretty good speed for a tank with that amount of armor.  Or the Maus some of it's armor is more than a foot thick and it's thinnest armor is more than a inch thick.  It has a good gun too, because it's long and it's very strong.  American tanks were not always on the top of the list, but now America's tank's are close or at the top of the list.  Some of British's tanks have been fast and have a good gun like the Crusader, it's fast and can fire multiple bullets at once, or you can take the Matilda for example it has good armor against certain bullets.  The tanks from Russia are fast and some of them have good armor and some of the slower tanks have better guns.  Some tanks are designed for different thing like some tanks can carry bridges and put them over obstacles that tanks can't get over, or some of them are designed to carry troops, others are designed for combat, and other are designed to go in water.

What did I Learn?

I learned that Russia made a tank that could be dropped out of a plane, the fastest tank ever was the S 2000 Scorpion Peacekeeper.

What do I Want to Know?

I want to know the statistics of old tanks and new tanks and compare them scientifically to figure out witch one is better.

What Action did I Take?

I made a website about it I also went on youtube and I also looked up images on it.

How Will I Learn the Information?

I will learn the information by going on YouTube and go to a park where they have live tanks to climb on and go on websites.

What Questions do I Still Have?

I still want to know what it was like inside the tank and how it was like to live on one.  I also want to know how much a tank armor can with stand.
Reflection:  I liked this project because it was fun and I was interested in the project, and it was fun learning all the statistics of them I also liked learning about the tanks in different countries.  The hard part was finding the sats about them, it was also hard finding the right information for the tank and finding the right tank.  I thought the website was was fun, but it was hard to get all the information.  But overall it was fun.

What do we know?

I know that the brain works really hard to keep us alive and thinking everyday.
The brain is a really important part of our body and really interesting to learn about.
It also has different parts.

What did we learn?

I learned so much about the different medical conditions! I learned about concussions, migraines, brain aneurysm, and stroke. I also learned how to prevent them, warnings that you get before them, and what they are! It was very interesting to learn about these even though it was a bit weird and kind of complicated. It was so much fun!

What do we want to know?

I want to know about the brain in the human body and what happens when you have different medical conditions like a migraine, aneurysm, concussion, and stroke. It would be really interesting to learn about this.

What action did we take?

I will share my website and my video with my family members and my friends. I hope they will enjoy it and learn something from it. It was extremely fun to do and if I had more time, I would find another medical condition to do!

How will I learn the information?

I will find my information by asking my grandma because she is a chemist and see what she knows, asking my mom because she is a pharmacist and see what she knows, look in different books, and research online.

What questions do we still have?

I am wondering:
1. What are the different parts of the brain and what do they do?
Reflection:

I absolutely loved this topic. It wasn't boring to me at all and it was so much fun to do. Every time passion time came up, I was so excited to start working and getting things done. This passion time project was very interesting. It was about the brain and what happens inside it. I learned about migraines, concussions, brain aneurysm, and stroke. I also learned how to prevent them and warnings that you get before them and what they are. Now, when any of my family members have any of these medical conditions, I can tell them what they are, how to prevent them, and warnings that you get before them.
