The main responsibility of the chair stackers is to make sure all of the chairs are stacked at the end of the day. We normally have to stay a little bit later (maybe 2 minutes) after school to stack all of the chairs that weren't stacked by other people. All of the chairs that weren't stacked are counted against us on the checklist. There normally is a note on the whiteboard where you can write the number of chairs that you had to stack. When certain kids seem to be always forgetting to stack their chairs, you may have to privately let them know, so that they will stack their chairs in the future, benefiting the class.
This job is important because it makes it much easier for the janitor to clean the room after school because he/she wouldn't have to vacuum around the chairs, and it would make a lot more open space he/she might not see otherwise. It also helps the classroom with kids remembering to have good habits that are enforced on the checklist. It helps the classroom a lot by keeping it clean and organized by making space for the janitor to clean.
