What's going on in Mr. Solarz' Class? |
|
The Pencil Sharpener This job takes place directly after the announcer says his/her spiel. When you are emptying out the pencil sharpener, you always have to make sure that you empty it out completely. Do not spill any of the led on the table, if you do make sure that you clean it up. Take a paper towel and wipe it up or dust it. After you take it out you have to bring the four containers to the garbage, you should always go two at a time because when people are walking in your way it is kind of hard to hold four of them. When you are done with that you have to bring the containers back and put in them back into the pencil sharpener and then you are done. This is not required but I like to go to the pencil lost and found and sharpen all the pencils that are in there you don't have to do this but I like to do because it's good to have sharped pencils. If you decide to do this do it before you empty out the pencil sharpener because it would just make more work. This job is so important because if we did not empty out the pencil sharpener constantly then when some one sharpens their pencil the pencil sharpener would get clogged and you would have to unclog it, and that is not a very fun thing to do. Another worse thing that could happen if you leave the pencil shavings in the pencil sharpener is that it could break and that would not be good either. The Afternoon Reminder At the end of the day when the bell rings make sure that you go to the corner of the door and say jobs mail chairs to everyone that walks through the door. If they did their jobs got their mail and stacked their chairs then they will high five you, if not they go back and do it. Do not leave until everyone is out the door. If you do this and some one does not listen remind them the next day nicely by saying yesterday I said jobs mail chairs and you said yup even though you forgot your jobs mail and chairs. Usually after that they will do there job mail and chairs but if they don't you must get more serious. This job is so important because You need people to always know what they are forgetting. Imagine if every day everyone in the class forgot their jobs mail and chairs, the classroom would be chaos because no one would be doing their jobs the mail boxes would be stuffed because no one would get their mail. And at the end of the day the chairs would all be not stacked because no one was their to remind them.

This year, we never changed jobs! It just encouraged the importance that we all help each other with our jobs! Although not every job is the most exciting, everyone got a chance to do everyone's jobs and nearly everyday, every job seemed to get done! I think I'll do the same next year!

Our Formal Classroom Jobs
Most things in our classroom are "collaborative responsibilities" that we all share and do whenever necessary, but some things are assigned. We call these our "Formal Jobs." Formal jobs can be done by anyone, but must get done by the end of each day and one person is in charge of making sure it happens. This blog attempts to explain each of those jobs. Archives
