MARS SIMULATION DEMETRI

6/1/2015

The mars simulation is basically a trip to mars were we have to colonize  and create a home on mars because the earth is to populated. We have to make our own rules and our own government by creating a name for our new country and what kind of government we want. We also have to make our own money, flag and a lot of other cool thing! my most favorite part was the simulation part because you never know what Mr Solarz can do next. The mars simulation is also leads up to our Oregon trail simulation.

Money Island  is a fun learning experience made so you can learn how to use money and they actually give you a chance to work with money by having to pay bills and your job is to learn in the game. It teaches you to save spend share and invest. In my opinion is is a really fun game and when I played it , I played at home because it was so fun. The best part about Money Island is finishing the game and getting your money island  T-shir\

            Reflection

  • What bodies of surface water did you find while examining the three maps?
  • Were there any types of surface water on the Arlington Heights map that you weren’t able to find on the Illinois map? If so, why?
  • Were there any types of surface water on the Illinois map that you couldn’t find on the United States map? If so, why?
  • What are some names of the bodies of water in Illinois and Arlington Heights? What bodies of water did you identify?
Local Surface Water

  •             We found oceans, lakes, rivers, bays, and seas. most of the ones we found were lakes and rivers. I could not find a bay  on the map.
  •                  There were not Manny bodies of water that I could not find on the Illinois map but not on the Arlington map. I could see some rivers though.
  • we found one lake but you can almost not even see it on the map of the U. S. the only water you can really see is oceans.
  • I found the Chicago River and Lake Michigan.

My Water Molecules Journey

5/18/2015

First I came down from space with a lot of other water molecules and smashed into  the earth. In about 10 minutes we all evaporated into the sky. I flew really high up and I saw a lot of other molecules, some not even water. Once we were up in the sky condensation happens and we formed a cloud. Then  the sky became really crowded with lots of molecules. We all bunched up and had a party up there. Then precipitation happened and we went plummeting really fast toward the sidewalk. Splat we hit sidewalk. Shortly after the rain stopped we Accumulated into a puddle. We all danced around into our pudle. But what we did not want to happen happened and a little plant started to grow right in the middle of our pudle. We all started to get sucked into the plant. ahhhhh. The next day we were in the plant and we started to leak out of the plant. The next thing that happened was transpiration, it was sort of like evaporation but from a plant. It was like we were the plants sweat. Then the whole thing happened again except when it rained I landed into a little kids mouth. He swallowed me, and I went down his throat. I was sure I would never get out of there but one day the kid was doing some sort of game where you kick a  ball into a goal I was sweated out of him just like I was by the plant. This was called perspiration. I flew back up into the sky and the water cycal happens all over again.

Watery Earth Lesson 6 - Drops of Water on Different Surfaces

STICK

GRASS

WOOD

ROCK

LEAF

surface

Predictions

  • Stick:I think that the water will get absorbed by the bark on the stick. I also think that the bark on the stick will get wet and moist so it will be easily broken.
  • Grass: I think that when the water hits the grass it might get absorbed or it might make the grass stick to each other.
  • Wood: I think that when the water hits the wood It will probably stay on top of the wood like a drop of water, or it might just get absorbed and make the wood wet.
  • Rock: I think that the water will probably make the rock look less dry. I also think that the water will not get absorbed and it will just stay there in a drop.
  • Leaf: I think that the water will get absorbed by the leaf and make the leaf moist and easily broken. I also think it might slide off

Actual

  • Stick: Some of the water got absorbed and some of the water dripped down. It also made the stick wet so my prediction was right.
  • Grass: My prediction was correct because the water made the grass get stuck to the bottom of the cup.
  • Wood: The water dripped down and some of it got absorbed Therefor my prediction was correct.
  • Rock My prediction was half right because some of it made the rock wet but the rocks dry mud got muddy so I missed that.
  • Leaf: My prediction was wrong because the water dripped down and only a little bit got absorbed.

Reflection

  • Stick: I was surprised that  the water did not just drip down. I was also surprised I predicted right.
  • Grass:I was surprised that the grass stuck together when water touched it. Also i was surprised I predicted right.
  • Wood: I was surprised that the water turned mudy and dirty. I was also surprised my predicion was right.
  • Rock: I was surprised that it did the same thing as wood.
  • Leaf: I was surprised that the leaf absorbed the water, and my prediction was right.
Reflection Questions:
  1. Which materials surprised you the most? Why?
  2. Which materials do you still wonder about? How do you think water will respond to that material?
  1. The leaf surprised me the most because I thought that it wood get absorbed but it did not.
  2. I wonder what water will do to a shirt, I think it might ether get absorbed or drip down.
