STICK

GRASS

WOOD

ROCK

LEAF

surface

Predictions

  • Stick:I think that the water will get absorbed by the bark on the stick. I also think that the bark on the stick will get wet and moist so it will be easily broken.
  • Grass: I think that when the water hits the grass it might get absorbed or it might make the grass stick to each other.
  • Wood: I think that when the water hits the wood It will probably stay on top of the wood like a drop of water, or it might just get absorbed and make the wood wet.
  • Rock: I think that the water will probably make the rock look less dry. I also think that the water will not get absorbed and it will just stay there in a drop.
  • Leaf: I think that the water will get absorbed by the leaf and make the leaf moist and easily broken. I also think it might slide off

Actual

  • Stick: Some of the water got absorbed and some of the water dripped down. It also made the stick wet so my prediction was right.
  • Grass: My prediction was correct because the water made the grass get stuck to the bottom of the cup.
  • Wood: The water dripped down and some of it got absorbed Therefor my prediction was correct.
  • Rock My prediction was half right because some of it made the rock wet but the rocks dry mud got muddy so I missed that.
  • Leaf: My prediction was wrong because the water dripped down and only a little bit got absorbed.

Reflection

  • Stick: I was surprised that  the water did not just drip down. I was also surprised I predicted right.
  • Grass:I was surprised that the grass stuck together when water touched it. Also i was surprised I predicted right.
  • Wood: I was surprised that the water turned mudy and dirty. I was also surprised my predicion was right.
  • Rock: I was surprised that it did the same thing as wood.
  • Leaf: I was surprised that the leaf absorbed the water, and my prediction was right.
Reflection Questions:
  1. Which materials surprised you the most? Why?
  2. Which materials do you still wonder about? How do you think water will respond to that material?
  1. The leaf surprised me the most because I thought that it wood get absorbed but it did not.
  2. I wonder what water will do to a shirt, I think it might ether get absorbed or drip down.

Science Fair presentation First-Draft

I am glad I recorded a video of my project before the science fair because...
  • It gave me an idea on how I was going to present my project.
  • Also it made me know what I had to improve.

Science Fair Presentation-Improved Version

By the end of the science fair my presentation was much better because...
  • It changed because I showed videos on my experiments.
  • It was much better because my predestination was much more interesting to.
Questions:
  1. Overall, I think that the Science Fair was a valuable experience because...
  2. I definitely made some mistakes along the way, but I learned from them. Here are some examples...
  3. If I were given the chance to do anything differently, I would...

  1. I think that the science fair was a valuable expereance because I got to present my work to a lot of people and it was fun.
  2. One mistake I  learned from was that you have to be energetic with kids or they will get Bord.
  3. One thing I would do differently is ask if they have any questions.

  1. Write a definition for Man-Made Resources (in your own words) and Natural Resources.
  2. Why is "water" considered a Natural Resource?
  3. List three or more Natural Resources that you use daily.

1. A man made resource is a resource made by people. In order for something to be a man made resource it has to be helpful or useful.
2. water is not a man made resource because it was not made by people even though we make it able to be drank.
3. Three natural resources I use every day are water, oxygen and froot.

Crocodiles use water for a lot of thing's. For example, crocodiles use water to hide in. When there  pray is drinking water they sneak up on it, grab it, and pull it into the water. Once a crocodile has their pray in the water they may brake it's neck or hold it underwater until it can't hold it's breath much longer. A crocodile's blood is the same tempter as the water it is in. Crocodiles are not man eaters, so they mostly eat fish and animals that are drinking water out of a pond or lake that the crocodile is living in.

           HUMANS:
  • Unlike Crocodiles, we can't go without water for a long time. Humans have to drink water or we will die. If we do not drink water we can get dehydrated.
  • A human can't stay underwater longer than a crocodile. The average human can hold their breath for two hours and some crocodiles can hold their breath for 3 hours!
  • Some humans can swim fast and some humans are so fast they can outswim a crocodile.
CROCODILES:
  • Crocodiles use water to hide in so that they can slowly come up to the shore where an animal is and jump out of the water and grab it!
  • Crocodiles have a lot of teeth and they are really sharp too. A crocodile  can leave a really big scar from its razer sharp teeth.
  • A crocodile has about three layers of teeth that grow back when they lose them. That's one more layer than us.

What Crocodiles and Humans have in common

Some thing's humans have in common with crocodiles are that we can both swim and we both have to drink water to live. Crocodiles also eat many of the same foods we do, like fish and meat. They are carnivores like we are.  Also, we both have sets of teeth. Crocodiles and humans can both hold their breath under water because they both have lungs. Crocodiles and humans alike are both good swimmers.

  • Drinking and Eating : We drink water all the time so that we can stay hydrated, we also put water in some other drinks Gatorade or orange juice. We also boil water to cook things or to heat things, like for example we put water in a metal pan over the stove.
  • Keeping Clean: We use a lot of water to clean our house or other things because it washes things off. We use water when moping and wiping our tables and stuff like that, without water we can't wash our hands.
  • Caring for Pets: Just like us our pets need water to stay alive to so we give them water in their bowl or whatever they drink out of. We also use water to wash our pets.
  • Playing: We use a tone of water for fun like the pool or a water park, we use a lot of water at resorts to, think about how much water it takes to make one of those huge pools or water parks. We also use water for water guns or water balloons. We also play with water at the beach when we swim in it.
  • Other: One other thing we use water for is for watering plants like when we use a sprinkler or a hose.
Questions:
  1. What seem to be the most commons uses of water (list at least three)? The most common use for water seems to be for drinking, water parks, and washing. I picked these because there are so Manny people in the world and they have to drink water to live so there must be a lot of water drank.
  2. What are the most unusual uses of water (list at least three)? One that was unusual was putting water in drinks and going to the bathroom. One mare that is weird is wale watching because not Manny people do that.

Our Mars Simulation

1. Write one paragraph describing what happens from start to finish in our mars simulation.

Two years before we went to mars we rote our own constitution, we decided that we would have the same kind of government as the U.S. has. So we made our own constitution and used some of the things in the U.S. constitution. We thought of some things that could go bad on mars and made solutions to the problems. One of our best inventions was our teleportation.  One of the discussions we had was about if we should bring guns, we did not see how guns would be a problem on mars so we took guns to mars.  When we got to mars we set up our dome and gave it oxygen so we could breath inside. It seemed like nothing would go bad and we thought that everything was going perfect. After about three or four weeks we had the dome set up and we where all living inside it. Next we built a shooting range so people could shoot guns, but when one person shot up in the air the sparks from the gun hit the dome. Right after the sparks hit the dome the hole thing exploded, and the porthole when haywire and sucked us into it. We teleported back to earth but landed on a man with a big bag of gold. The good part of this was we got rich because us landing on him killed him and we took the gold the bad part was we were teleported back in time.

Picture
One day when I was  in florida  on vacation with my family, we decided that we would go to the beach. But we did not know what the weather was going to be that day, so we went to the beach and it was really sunny outside and the waves brushed against the sand making a “swish” sound. It was really relaxing because there was nobody at the beach. I wondered why there was nobody though because normally there was people there. Just then I saw a big black storm cloud heading our way, I thought that it was just passing by. I continued to walk on the damp sand toward the water. Then I noticed that the current was really strong and it could actually knock me over. It started to drizzle a little bit and it was no longer sonny outside, five minutes later the wind was really strong and my mom said we should get back inside. By now the wind was almost knocking me over and the rain was hitting me like pins and needles. I started to walk up the stairs with my beach shovel and I could feel the rain hitting it, just then the wind was so strong it made my arm shoot up and the top of the shovel broke off. I looked back at the beach and it looked like it was flooding with water, I could hear the water splashing and the waves smacking against the rough sand. I was trying to run to the top of the stairs but the slippery water was making me fall down over and over and the wind was not making things and better. By now my mom and dad were waiting for me to get to the top so we could go inside, so I started to hold on to the  rails even though they were really wet. When I got to the top I was really happy because I finally was inside out of the rain.
