My notes on the video:
- Some river valleys are as wide as the Grand Canyon is long.
- Gravity there is less than half of what it is on Earth.
- A year is twice as long.
- They have made a machine that can turn urine into drinkable water.
- Robots that they have sent there have found evidence that there is water on Mars.
- To make some of the food, they need light, so they are trying to make energy so the plants can grow.
| 1. I know that their biggest goal is to get people on Mars and have them survive. They have been trying to make ways for how people would survive there, and taking photos and getting evidence that people can live there. 2. The journey is 250 million miles. It would take about 2.5 years to get there. That would include 18 months on the martian surface. 3. What the astronauts need most is food and water. NASA has been working on ways to do that such as growing plants 10 to 20 times more density than they do in nature. They are also making sure that they have air and made a machine that turns urine into drinkable water. 4. I think the risks are getting enough food, water, and air. Knowing that it would take 2.5 years to get there, I think it is a risk because their machines could break down, and they wouldn't get enough food, water, or air. 5. I think the thing that I would want to bring most would be food and water to survive in case the things there aren't safe. Other than that, I would bring other things like books, movies, and pictures. I would bring a camera to take pictures of what it is like on Mars. |
