| 1. Playing a video game in math class can be really fun. What are some of the other benefits of playing video games to learn concepts? (Two or more sentences) 2. Pretend that our school district is banning Money Island from the curriculum. Using strong examples of what you've learned, politely fight to keep this program around! (What have you learned from Money Island?) Write a persuasive/argumentative essay that can convince them to keep it around. Organize your thoughts before you start writing. It should follow the same format as our Human Body Research Papers. (3-4 paragraphs) | 1. I think that it being a video game it grabs our attention. Incorporating games into our learning doesn’t even make it feel like were learning when we really are. I think that we actually learn more because our brain absorbs all the information like it’s important to know what’s essential to succeed and win the game. I think these are just a couple of benefits from playing a video game. 2. Money Island is great, kids are learning and having fun. I feel that this way of learning grabs the kids attention and makes them want to learn. I know we learn money value and how to count with money, etc but when are we learning about spending, saving, sharing, and investing. In these two weeks of money island I’ve learned so much. I’ve learned about spending, saving, sharing, and investing, even credit cards. If you're taking away money island we won’t learn about this anymore. And if you think teachers can teach this think again. Kids would be so bored listening about how to spend money and about credit debt. Money island helps us learn in and enjoyable way. When I got home one night after playing money island I asked my parents about credit cards. I had learned when you pay with a credit card you actually had to pay it off with money. I thought that you just paid and poof it was done but no you actually have to go back and pay off all the money you used on your credit card. I also learned how to balance a money pie. I spend on needs and wants, I save for emergencies, I share money with people who need it (Like education or the environment) and I invest in properties and stocks to gain steady loot. Steady loot was really fun to learn about. You gain steady loot from paychecks and investing in payments. In this next paragraph I’m going to tell you what I learned about assets and liabilities and also earning money. In money island I learned about assets. Assets are things that gain you money. Assets are things like paychecks, stocks and businesses which all gain us steady loot. Our assets keep us going forward unlike liabilities. Liabilities are things that lose us money and set us back. Liabilities are things like going to the arcade, going to the movies, and buying wants. Our wants and needs are different. Wants are things that satisfy us like games and toys. Needs our opposite. Needs are things we need for everyday life like food, clothes, water and etc. Earning money doesn’t mean just sitting around. I learned that from money island. Earning money and paychecks is trading for your time and effort. When you get a job you will earn your paycheck from your time and effort. As you can see I learned a lot and this isn’t even all of it I’ve learned tons more from money island. If you take away money island kids would be devastated. I’ve learned so much and I want to keep learning. I think that money island has prepared me for later in life and that every kid should get a chance to play money island, so do think if so money kids love money island that you want to take it away? If you take money island away I think you're taking away one of the most important lessons to help us in the future. |
