First the sun melts the ice, second the water melts and pushes the ball, third the ball slingshots, forth it hits the cymbals, fifth it scares the mouse, six the mouse plugs in the toaster, seventh he slides down the cord, eighth he hits the button, ninth the hand turns on the light

1. What was the most surprising thing you learned about energy during this entire unit?  Why was it surprising?

1.The most surprising thing I learned was how I never stop making motion energy. This was surprising to me because I thought you weren't in motion in your sleep.
2. My favorite part was the energy transfers stations. I liked them because I was still learning but at the same time I was still having fun.
3. Energy is found every were in the world. It can be found on land or in water.
4. I would define energy as things around round us. Anything that is in action like making sound and  motion.

Insulated Bottles

  1. What was your maximum temperature (use your Data Chart, not the picture)?
  2. What was your minimum temperature (use your Data Chart, not the picture)?
  3. What is your range?  If you had any penalties or gifts, include those in your total.
  4. What materials did you use in your insulated bottle (type them in order from your first layer, second layer, and third layer.)?  Why did you choose the materials that you did?
  5. What are some materials that you didn't choose?  Why didn't you choose them?
  6. Explain any blips on your graph (if you have them).  Why do you think it did that?
  7. Is an insulator a good or a poor conductor of heat energy?  This is an important question, so really think before you answer it!
1. Our Maximum was 113.4. At First we thought it would stay this way almost the whole time but then it started to drop.
2. Our Minimum was 72.1. We thought it would've dropped even lower because there where dramatic changes.
3.Our range was 41.3. I got this by subtracting our maximum by our minimum.
4. We used aluminum foil, wax paper, foam, and bubble wrap. We used aluminum foil, wax paper, and bubble wrap because we wanted to use things that hadn't been tested in the first round. We choose the foam because it was the best one in the draft.
5. We didn't choose polyester because the water can easily soak through it. We also didn't choose paper because sometimes when you spill water on paper it breaks.
6. Yes we had lots of blips. I think it was because we barely ever kept the bottle still and we also moved the temperature probe.
7. A insulator is a poor counducter because it dose not let heat travel through an item. An insulator is a bad counducter and a conductor is a bad insulator.

Energy Transfers

  1. What was your favorite station? Why?
  2. Which object was most difficult to figure out?  Why was it so hard to figure out the energy transfers in this object?
  3. Which three stations do you feel very confident that you figured out correctly? Describe one and explain what made it so obvious.
  4. Was it always possible to know for sure what kinds of energy transfers occurred?
1. My favorite was the energy ball because I found it interesting how if you touch each other the energy travels through your body. Also because I like how the sound and light only worked when you touched the buttons.
2.The drinking bird because there were so many energy transfers to figure out and we only got two. Also because I didn't get the evaporation part.
3. The hand held generator, dominos, and plasma ball. I think it was the hand held generator because it was very easy just by looking at it. The dominos because when you set them up and knock them down it turns right into energy. The plasma ball because I saw a a energy transfer right when I sat down.
4. For me not always because It's not always the easiest for me for me to spot energy transfers. Also it can be hard to know for sure because some kinds of energy are hidden.

  2. What forms of energy are easiest to notice? Which ones are hardest to notice?
  3. Do some items possess more than one form of energy? If so, which ones?
  4. Why is energy important?

1. Energy is found all around the world. Here in Westgate we found energy in halls, classrooms, and outside.
2. Chemical energy is easier if you are outside because grass, trees, and flowers are all chemical energy. The hardest was probably sound energy because you hear lots of things but you can't always take pictures of sound being made.
3.Gravitational energy can be motion energy.
For example: someone falling would be gravitational and motion energy.
4.Energy is important because it produces light, heat, and motion energy. Energy also help us to explain things around us.
