What do I already know about Mars?

It has a thin and possibly dangerous atmosphere
It looks red and rusty from iron oxide

What do you know about NASA's plans to visit Mars?
How long will the trip take?
What supplies and equipment will the astronauts need to survive there?
What do you think are the risks of traveling to such a distant planet?
What would you want to bring with you?

They would send a return rocket first and use artificially modified food.
2 1/2 years
You would need special spacesuits, exercise, food, and shelter.
You would loose strength over time from anti-gravity as well as injury solar flare ions.
I would bring a small form of entertain, a spacesuit and other needed items.

It surprised me how much of the world is malnourished, uneducated, poor, powerless, or without clean water or air. It also surprised me to find out how many languages there are and how our population is getting older and older. It upset me how much of the world is malnourished, uneducated, poor, powerless, or without clean water or air, I wish all of these thing were for better instead of worse. The fact that so many people are dying unnecessarily is what made me want to take action even if it would continue to overpopulate the world. I can help this situation by going to programs like feed my starving children.

It was hard because we had to collaborate well and explain things without showing each other our screen.
Yes, because it helped improve our collaboration which is a valuable and important skill especially in Mr. Solarz' class.
I would advertise it as a way to improve and create great friendships.

Reflections From Dubai

My teacher, Mr. Solarz, was fortunate enough to travel to Dubai last week for an education conference and to meet former Top 50 Global Teacher Prize candidates for the Varkey GEMS Global Teacher Prize. He shared his unbelievable experience with us, and here are some things that I learned from our discussion:

The first thing I learned was that everyones the same, it does not matter what language you speak or what culture/beliefs you have because if you really try hard you can get along and make friends anywhere.
Another thing I learned was that you should not make assumptions in general as well as do your best not to try to hide yourself from the crowd.

I chose "Everything on it" because it is a funny, unrealistic poem that makes no sense. It has a message that you should think about something before you do it.
The things I like about poetry are that they are fun creative ways to mess with words.
