Schoolwide Reading - Launch Lesson 2

Picture
  • What did you think of this book? What did you like and what did you dislike?
  • This was historical fiction. What do you like about historical fiction and what don't you like
  • When the book ended, what were you thinking about? What are you still wondering or wish you'd know more about? Why do you want to know?

  • The grandmother is her only family
  • They are poor
  • They have a thin cow
  • They can not feed their cow very well
  • They go to school
  • She works
  • The grandmother does not like to read and write
  • Jessie does not like to sow
  • She is religious
  • The priest's brother died
  • America is very rich
  • They all want to go
  • He relies on god
  • They do not have phones
  • They are not in America
  • She does not want to go
  • Jessie's parents died when she was young
  • I think Jessie is only 13 years old
  • She packed lace for sowing
  • She needs to sow in America
  • She left her mother's weeding ring with her grandmother
  • Jessie is scared because she does not have her grandmother
  • Jessie is sad because her grandmother is alone
  • They think that America is paved with gold
  • It cost a whole lot to go to America
  • The date is after September 8th 1885
  • They are happy to be at America
  • She is amazed to see America
  • Her friend is gone
  • She is sad that her grandmother can not see it
  • She is good at sowing
  • The parks are big
  • He found her friend
  • They are in love
  • They are married
  • The grandmother is coming over
  • They gave the cow to the Rabie
  • The weeding ring
I liked the book because it had so much emotion, because the grand mother and Jessie had to separate

I liked it because it had adventure, and I did not like it because It was so sad

I was thinking about what happened to Jessie and the shoemake's assistant. I was still wondering about Jessie and her grandmother and what they did with each other after the book ended

Observing and Describing an apple

Picture
  • It is firm
  • it has pockets for the seeds
  • It gets brown when exposed to oxygen
  • it is bruised
  • the stem connects to the seeds
  • when I flick it it makes a hollow sound
  • the seed pod is tough
  • the inside of a seed is tough
  • the seed looks like an almond
  • the juice is transparent
  • the seed is like a sponge
  • the inside is green
  • it holds a lot of oxygen
  • the juice is sticky
  • the outside is tough
  • the inside can be transparent
  • the inside is pulpy
  • it oxidized more with holes in it

  1. Why were you able to observe so many things about your apple today?
  2. Why is observation and description so important in science?
  3. Rank order the five senses in the order or your observations (i.e. which sense was used most, second most, etc.).
I was able to obseve nearly all of the things because the apple was all cut open in half

It is important because you need to get all of the descriptions right on

How is Our Human Body Organized?

9/7/2016

Picture
The cells make up tissue, tissue makes organs organs make up the vital system and the vital system helps the body survive.
Adaptation is how our body can live in a certain type of climate like if you lived in winter all the time your skin would be super big to keep the heat in.So your body will change to fit your needs in the climate around you.

Presidential Election:Lesson Two

9/6/2016

Picture
For our mock election, I am going to represent the democrat party, because my number one candidate sides closest with that party (ignoring third parties).
Picture
  1. Did you fly on Air Force One at least five times?
  2. Did you negotiate two or more peace treaties?
  3. Did you gain Congress's support for your main issue at least two times?
  4. Did you step into the president's shoes at least 25 times?
  5. What challenges did you have to face as president of the United States?
  6. What were some of the responsibilities you had as president of the United States?
  7. Was it easy to be president? Explain why or why not - give details & evidence!
  8. Other than what you've already written about, what is one thing you learned from this game that is probably true about being president?

Yes

No

No

No

The challenges I faced were that I had to go to war and choose what part of the army to use to stop the threat

The hard part about it was that you needed to pass the right laws and deliver it to the right department to execute the law

No it was not easy because you had to do the right things and you had to separate the good things from the wrong things

I learned that it is a lot of hard work being president because of all the laws we have to post.

Human Body Lesson 1

9/1/2016

Here is my reflection from the activity in class:
Mr. Solarz had us do a poster on the human body.he gave us a list of organs and made us try to look like we knew where the organs went in the body.the list of organs he gave us were:
  • the brain
  • the eyes
  • the heart
  • the lungs
  • the esophagus
  • the gallbladder
  • the bladder
  • the skin
  • the trachea
So one of the three of us lay down on the butcher paper and we traced him. Then we put the organs in the place that we thought they would go.Lastly we had to do a video we only go one shot at it one. In the video we learned how to take risks. And that's my reflection on the human body lesson 1 .

    Amir Raja

I am Amir Raja, a doctor from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It would be very important to have a doctor along on the first manned mission to Mars because you would need someone to help you when you have an injury or if we encounter any foreign diseases. I am excited for this trip because it would be exciting to start a foothold for humanity, on mars.
