Schoolwide Reading Lesson 3

• I think Jessie is from a poor area of Europe.  Maybe post WWII.
• Rabbi is a Jewish word for teacher.  Jessie lives in a Jewish town.
• Jessie and Grandma both wanted to teach each other skills they don't want to learn.
• I think the rabbi is going to choose Jessie to go to America, maybe because he thinks she stands out because she is the only girl that goes to school.
• I was wrong, the rabbi choose Jessie because she could help his brother's widow with her sowing business.
  
• Why did Jessie give her mom's wedding band to Grandma
• Jessie is lucky to know how to sew because she can befriend the passengers on the boat.
• Will Jessie find Lou?  Did she loose him?
• Jessie is enjoying America, but she misses Grandma
• Jessie is starting to enjoy sowing a lot more
• I think Jessie will marry Lou.
• I think Grandmother is going to America because Jessie said that she would like Lou.
• Jessie saved up money to bring Grandmother by sowing lace.
• Why did Jessie say soon to get married to Lou?
• Because she wanted Grandmother to be there and give her a ring.

1.  I loved this book!  The story is so nice, and it has a touch of humor, romance, and drama.  The little details that turned out to be important were really good.  The only thing I didn't like was the cliffhanger.

2. What I love about historical fiction is that you know what the character is going through and their situation because you can research about the time period.

3.I really wanted to know when Grandmother passed away, and if Jessie opened her own lace shop.
