Answer: I think that this book will be about someone called Henry that was a slave that escaped, or tried.

Answer:  I did a passion time project on the underground railroad and slavery.  There is a link to it a the bottom.

Answer: I wonder what is a freedom box and what will it do in the story.

Answer: I believe that this book is probably a literary nonfiction.

Answer:  This book looks like it is structured like a story.

Answer:  Slaves don't have right to know things and stand up.  Slaves are treated like objects.  The new master isn't nice like the old one.

Answer: It is unclear how Henry will survive being upside down.  It is also unclear how he survived with so little oxygen.

Answer: Will Henry ever see his family again?  Why can't slaves sing?  What will Henry do about his wife's worries?

Answer: I learned that Henry actually brought a tool to make air holes and biscuits to eat.

Answer: I think the biggest one was that people treated slaves like literal objects.

2.  I like referring to a line or section of the text because you can start a very deep conversation doing so.  I like defending my answers with evidence from the text, and referring to a line or section of the text helps me practice that.

3.  The question was if Nathan would save Abigail before he became dead forever.  Matthew and Logan thought that he wouldn't live, but I did.  I thought so because things like this happen in books all the time, and they end up living.  It is so cliche that I was almost sure that Nathan would live.  Logan made a prediction that if Nathan didn't make it alive, he would become a firefighter when he grows up because he would be immune to fire.  Plus, since Nathan could take off his limbs, he could send them through the fire and save people.  I strongly disagreed because why would he take out his limbs if it hurt so much to put them back on?  Also, if people found out that he has the ability to not get hurt and detach his libs from his body, they would take him to a lab to do experiments on him.  Plus, he wanted to keep it a secret.  A lot of the video was Logan, Matthew, and I discussing weather Nathan would become a firefighter or not.  At the end, we all kept our opinions.

I think the moral of the story is that in the game of life, you have to make choices and find your path.  This poem makes me think of how important it is to find a passion because that skill will last forever.

1.If you were about to read a book about about an astronaut who went to Venus, what are three or more things you might think about before reading that would activate your schema?

2.If the book said, "The astronaut's helmet began to melt..." what would you imagine the cause was?  Why would his or her helmet be melting?  Use your schema to answer this question.

1. First, I would think if this book is fiction or not.  Then, I would ask myself what country are they launching the mission in.  Last,  I would wonder if this astronaut is alone on the mission.

2.  I think it is for two reasons.  First, Venus is scorching hot, meaning that the helmet's materials would heat up and eventually melt.  I would also think that the cause is that the book is fiction, meaning that the author can make the people that launched the mission 9 year olds, meaning that they didn't think about how the temperature on Venus would affect the materials used to make the helmet.

1.  I loved this book!  The story is so nice, and it has a touch of humor, romance, and drama.  The little details that turned out to be important were really good.  The only thing I didn't like was the cliffhanger.

2. What I love about historical fiction is that you know what the character is going through and their situation because you can research about the time period.

3.I really wanted to know when Grandmother passed away, and if Jessie opened her own lace shop.
