Stop and Jots

  • Stop and Jots are not notes.
  • Stop and Jots are thoughts that you have while reading.
  • The thought can be any kind of lit circle discussion or any type of thought that you would not share.
  • Via is compassionate because she cares enough about Justin that she tries to convince him that he will be OK memorizing his lines.  Not every girlfriend cares as much as she does about her friends.
  • I think Justin wished that he could memorize his lines to make Via proud.  He really cares about her because he hasn't said any bad quality about her.  Via cares about him, so I think he is trying to  return the care by making her happy.
  • I think that the three boys are Julian, Henry, and Miles because they are trying to convince Jack to not be August's friend by not being his friend.  Maybe they are trying another strategy.
  • I predict that Justin will go up to Julian and talk to him about how he treated Jack because now that Jack is gone, he can talk to the bullys.  Justin cares about Jack because since he cares about her, he cares about her family and their friends.
  • I think Miranda still really cares about Auggie because just like Justin, she cares about Via so much that she also cares about her family, meaning that she finds Auggie as a brother.
  •  I think Auggie is shy around new people because he always hiding, or at least trying, to hide his face.
  • I think that Miranda changed her look because her dad is remarrying.  Her feelings are probably changing, and to hide that, she is changing her look and personality.  Maybe she also couldn't do the play because she was to sad to do it.
  • I think that Miranda is copying Via's life because she thinks that she is very fortunate.
  • Miranda changed her look and personality during camp because she said those lies and some girls changed her.
  • Miranda cares a lot about Auggie because she made the theater teacher change the play about a deformed man.  I think she did it for herself and Via because they would probably feel bad if they did that play.
