Stop and Jots:
- The man who moved into the house is called Henry, and he is brave for moving into this house that hasn't been lived in for 7 years. I wonder if he is scared.
- Henry was happy with the condition of the house. If I had some extra money, I would try to fix up the outside of the house a bit, maybe add a flower pot to the doorstep
- Sign Post: Again and Again: The neighbors said that the place was a disgrace two times because they are disgusted with the condition of the house.
- Henry doesn't seem to be up for a remodeling his house, he might be oblivious or headstrong.
- He ignored the peer pressure and kept his house shabby. Henry should at least tell his neighbors why he doesn't want to remodel his house.
- Henry is starting to be rude. I'm not sure why, but his neighbors are baking him a pie and he said no. He also said no to tree men wanting to shovel his walks
- Henry doesn't want to remodel his house because it isn't his personality to be neat. He leaves the house. I think that he isn't being smart by leaving the house that he loved
- I pity the neighbors because they are reflecting about what they did after Henry is gone.
- Henry misses his beloved house and birds. He also misses the neighbors
- Where and when do you usually read?
- What kinds of books do you like to read? Why?
- Do you have a favorite author, series, or genre? What is it?
- How do you decide what to read once you are ready to select a new text?
- Select a question from the class Padlet, and write some notes to record the answer.
1. I usually read before I go to sleep in my bed, at around 8:30. I also read when I have free time, usually on a couch or somewhere comfortable. I like reading for long periods of time, in quiet places.
2. I love reading teen or young adult fiction, or realistic fiction. I also like it when some type of mystery or drama twisted into the plot. I like those books because they are a bit deeper than kid books. I can relate to the characters more, for some reason. I like it if there is a little, if not a a lot, of violence involved, just because it makes me want to keep reading.
3. I love John Green, J.K Rowling, Suzanne Collins, and Veronica Roth. When it comes to realistic fiction, John Green writes beautifully. Although I have only read 1 series from J.K Rowling, Suzanne Collins, and Veronica Roth, their creativity in fantasy is endless.
4.I usually look for books from the same author or genre. I also look for books with famous movies or books that my peers recommended. When I find a book, I read a few pages and the description on the back to see if I like it.
5. Why do I choose to read? I read for pleasure and for peace. A good book takes me away from my troubles and worries by taking me to another world, like a drug. When I don't feel well, I read.
