  1. Plants need energy and matter to grow. Where do plants get their ENERGY?
  2. Where do plants get their MATTER?
  3. Where do plants get their FOOD (be careful - this is a trick question)?
  4. Why are plants called Producers?
  5. What would happen if plants didn't have a way to get energy?
  6. What would happen to animals if there were no plants to eat?
  7. What are some of the LIVING components of a plant "system"? (A plant "system" is everything that a plant needs to survive and everything it produces.)
  8. What are some of the NON-LIVING components of a plant "system"?

  10. What matter is transported in and out of the plant system?

  1. Plants need sunlight, soil, and water. Those forms of energy and matter help the plant grow.
  2. Plants get their matter from energy there effects do the same thing and helps the plant grow.
  3. Plants food is sunlight and carbon dioxide. 
  4. They are called producers because they produce so many things like flowers, leave and so much more.
  5. They would srivel up and die.
  6. Animals would not get any food and they will have to eat other animals there will not be those animals anymore.
  7. The living componat is sunlight because sunlight is its food.
  8. Water and soil becasue it can not grow without those two things.
  9. They all go in the vanes of the plant and the plant gets it to were it needs to go.
  10. It is trans ported through the plants vane. It gets out from the leaves.

Animals and insects

Plants need:
  • Carbon dioxide
  • Water
  • Sunlight
  • Soil nutrients
  • Nitrogen
  • Phosphorus
  • Potassium - Helps them grow

Were do they get these things:
  • From their roots​
  • Oxygen comes from the air
  • Light comes from lights inside or sunlight


​Energy is measured in calories. ​

Animals need:
  • Water
  • Oxygen
  • Shelter/Warmth
  • Food - Carbon
  • Sleep

Were do they get these things:
  • Ponds, lakes, rivers, fountains, and puddles​
  • Carnivores get it from other animals
  • Herbivores get it from plants
  • Omnivores get it from both
Where do we get our energy from?:
  • Food - Without sleep we can not convert it into energy​
  • Our matter comes from food too

  1. As a result of looking at food labels, what did you learn about food?
  2. Look at the ingredients of one human food label. Write down the food name. What ingredients came from animals?
  3. What ingredients in the above food label came from plants?
  4. What similarities and differences did you notice between the human food and pet food labels you looked at?
  5. Choose an animal/insect from the ecosystem walk. What do you think it eats? Explain what you think it gets from its food.
  1. We look on the label to see what it tells us. Sometimes at the bottom most times but others it is at the top.
  2. It says total fat so that can tell you if we should eat it.
  3. On the back of the box or bag. It is usally a good size but the smaller pacaging you get the smaller label.
  4. ​On the top of the label.
  5. It says it and then has a bunch of dots and then the percentage.

  1. That if you need to now how many calories you are eating look at the label.
  2. I think it is carrot fiber because that is what bunnies eat. I can not find the food name.
  3. Tomatos, and corn surup came from a plant.
  4. They have a list of ingretents and they bolth have somthing like 0% protean.
  5. I think a squarll ats nuts because in the winter they hibernate and collect nuts.

  1. It provideds protenand so many other things that thney need to have and eat. 
  2. No it is different because they need those things in different ways.
  3. Because sometimes people think that dogs need lots of calories to.
  4. Protene helps us repair our bodies.
  5. calories are in our food and help us move and stay worm.
  6. It is the same way when we eat food it just has a different kind of stomic.
  7. 2% of our energy is in fat.
  8. Proten is in food and that is a matter.
