Notes on the video:

The video said that Mars used to have running world
They were growing plants two times faster than nature does
The Russians scheduled 2 hour exercises at the end of the ride coming back
They are thinking about a rotating rocket ship
They figured out a way to exercise by running sideways on a tredmill
It would take 102 days to be at the half way point
Every morning the would exercise for one hour

What do you know about NASA's plans to visit Mars?
How long will the trip take?
What supplies and equipment will the astronauts need to survive there?
What do you think are the risks of traveling to such a distant planet?
What would you want to bring with you?

To see if there is life on Mars
It will take 2 and a half years
They would use the land for a substance
It is dangerous and unpredictable what could happen in space
I would take food, water, gatorade, something to help me exercise during the ride, a bed to sleep on, and something to contact NASA

The village has 100 people

14 people are from Africa
5 from Canada and United states
11 people are from Europe
1 from Oceania
20 of these people are from China, 17 from India, 5 from USA
21 speak a form of Chinese, 9 speak english, 9 speak Hindi, 7 speak spanish, 4 speak Arabic, 3 speak bengali, 3 speak portuguese, and 3 speak russian
10 to 19 are the biggest group of people
They add 12 people every 10 years
33 are Christian
1 is Jewish
31 sheep and goats
23 cows, bulls, and oxen
3 Camels
2 Horses
250 chickens
15 pigs
people are loosing there body fat
38 people are in trouble to get poop diseases
1/3 don't have clean air
There is only one teacher
14 percent can't read
Males are more taught than females
6 people are retired
some peoples most expensive thing is a bike
Less than half of the world doesn't have a TV

I am amazed on the statistics that I have gotten

There was 10 automobiles
76 percent have electricity
Wood used to be the most used energy source
41 people are found were there is malaria
1000 B.C.E 1 person lived in the village
People think 250 is the max of people that is in the village

1. How did the gelatin in Cup 1 change? Did its ability to pass through the filter change?

2. Did the enzyme powder cause the change in Cup 1? What evidence do you have to support your answer?

3. What was the one difference between Cups 1 and 2? Was there a change to the gelatin in cup 2?

4. Which material from our lab was a metaphor for the bloodstream? In which cup did the gelatin’s nutrients reach the “bloodstream”?

5. Based on your experimental findings, why do you think it’s important for the food you eat to be digested?

6. How is food digested in the digestion system? What type of digestion did the model demonstrate?

7. What do you think would happen if you ate lots of food but couldn’t digest it? Would you still be hungry? Would you have lots of energy? Would you perform well in a sports competition? Explain!

100 WC Hyena

I was sitting in the grass eating my grey sandwich. I saw a miserable hyena just sitting in the grass looking lonely. I walked over to the hyena, and sat down next to the hyena. “Sup” said Steve to the hyena. I had the rest of the sandwich and gave it to the hyena.

I climbed onto the hyena and road the hyena like a horse. the hyena started running fast and said “ya!”

It was going super fast and it took me from South Africa to Egypt to Dubuque. I was going to Tortorice's Pizza to feed the hyena.

Breathing Through straws

What was the purpose of breathing through the straws?
While breathing through the wide straw, were some of the activities more difficult to do than others? If so, which ones?
How does your breathing change as you become more active? Why do these changes happen?
Why do you think that breathing through the wide straw caused the effects that you described?
Did breathing through the thin straw affect you differently than breathing through the wide straw? If so, explain why you think this occurred.
Why do you think you were asked to breathe through the thin straw for 20 seconds instead of 1 minute?
Why do you think you were not asked to walk or run while breathing through the thin straw?
How would your daily life be affected if you could only breathe in small amounts of air with each breath?

1. The purpose was to see what it feels like with asthma and bronchitis.
2. They were all difficult but I think walking and runnig in place was the hardest.
3. It get harder because you are working more
4. It did because that is what I noticed
5. I did not effect me on the breathing
6. I t would be very hard to breathe for one minute and someone could pass out
7. I think because it would be very hard to breathe for 20 seconds breathing while walking and running in place.
8. It would effect me because I play sports so I would need an inhaler and like a period or halftime because it would be hard to breathe
