KWe know that there are gears at the bottom of the helicopter which spin and make the propellers spin which lifts the helicopter. There is a circuit at the the front of the helicopter sending all the electricity from the battery to the motors enabling it to fly. There are motors in the middle of the helicopter and they have a cord connected to the circuit board and the battery. LWe learned that it is very complicated to create your own helicopter because you have to get the arrow dynamics correct and you have to get strong enough motors to lift the battery and shell. We also learned what each part of the helicopter is for and what it does. Like how the motors are very strong in this helicopter because it has to lift all of the plastic the battery and the motors itself. | WWe want to know if we can take apart the helicopter. Find out what each part does and try to make one out of the materials. We also want to know if when we make our own it will work. AWe looked up some videos and we looked up pictures of helicopters taken apart and of their circuit board we also had some help with putting wiring on our prototype helicopter and then from there we just experimented with the motors and the parts of the actual helicopters. | HI will learn all of my information by taking apart the helicopter and searching up what each part does. We will look on you tube on how to make a DIY helicopter. Q I still wonder why the circuit board has the stuff that is has and I want to know what those parts do, why do you have to have perfect aerodynamics for the helicopter to fly, and why do the smaller motors make more power for the helicopter to fly and how is the battery strong enough to make the motors spin at the speed that they do? |
Stephen's Reflection
In this passion time round I had lots of fun taking apart the helicopter and making a new one out of the parts. It was really fun experimenting the arrow dynamics and trying to make an eraser. I am really glad my friend Ryan let us use his motors and his cords to let us try to make a helicopter. It was fun to learn what each part of the helicopter did and how it helped the helicopter fly. I was hard to try and create the helicopter on the eraser because we had to be able to mount the motor and the cords on the eraser. It was also hard to identify what each part was for and what it did. It was also very fun to make our videos because we were able to tell everyone what each part did how they are able to make their own remote control helicopter.
Matthew's Reflection
In this passion time round I really liked our project because I have always been wondering how a remote control helicopter has enough power to lift off the ground and how they got it so light. But know with this passion time project I learned about all of that like the motor are smaller than an inch tall and how the spin fast enough to lift 0.05 ounces. I also really liked building a prototype that glided along the ground by using motors and wires to try and make something fly although it didn't fly I want to thank my friend Ryan for letting us use the motors. I thought it was really fun taking apart a helicopter and trying to make more models for our helicopter. I really liked working with Stephen and making the videos with him, I though this was a really fun doing this project and I really learned a lot.
