Going into this I knew there would be risks. But it feels more real now that I'm doing it. The risks mostly come from Mars' deadly atmosphere. If we leave to late, we will be stranded in space for two years until Mars comes. Our spacesuits need to get ready for -225ºF temperatures and unpredictable dust storms that might erode our helmets! The rust in the storms chokes you and the pressure is so low that we would explode if our helmets were removed. I sure won't be doing that! The Red Planet is radioactive, giving us a high risk of cancer. Water will be sacred and no one will take it for granted, as it is extremely hard to get. I will spend time with Francisca and Luis, them speaking my tongue will help me cope with the fact that I'll probably never see my family again.
