Revolutionary Tug-of-War

Basic Information:

The Red Team represented England.
The Blue Team represented the Continental Army & colonial militias.
The White Team represented the countries that helped us in the war, like France and Spain.

Create a video answering ALL of the following questions:

Why was the blue team smaller and have fewer people?
Why was the red team bigger with more people?
Why did the white team come into the tug-of-war late?
Why was the blue team offered a prize if they won, but not the red team?
Why was one person pulled aside and told they wouldn't receive a prize?
Why was the white team told to cheer for the blue team?
Why did half of the red team have to start so far away?
Why did the red team have to pull the rope so far, while the blue team only had to prevent the red team from doing so?
In your opinion, was this a good way to learn about the BIG IDEAS in the Revolutionary War? Why or why not?

Reflection/Synthesis Questions:

Which team were you a member of?
How did you feel at the beginning of the game?
Who did you think would win the game at first (RED or BLUE)? Why?
How did you feel as the rules changed? Did you get discouraged or more confident? Why?
What were the reasons why the BLUE team won?
Historically speaking, what happened once America won the Revolutionary War? What changed in America?
What might be different today if America had lost the war?

The blue Team.
Like we were going to lose and the red team was going to win.
Red, Because they had more people that were stronger.
More confident, because the new rules were for helping us win in my opinion.
They had a bigger motivation to win, and they had to just prevent the red team from getting to a certain point.
The blue team (colonists) gained freedom, and great Britain no longer owned the colonists.
America would be still under Great Britain's rule and there most likely would still be slavery.

What patterns did you notice about the shadow length throughout the day?
What caused these patterns?
When you analyzed your shadow graphs, when did the longest shadows occur? Why?
When you analyzed your shadow graphs, when did the shortest shadows occur? Why?
What was the most challenging part of this lesson?
What do you feel you learned from completing this lesson?

That it was about half of the length at noon then at 9 o clock, then half more at 2:35 then 12:00.
The position of the sun. Because the shadow is created by the spots the suns rays don't hit.
In the morning. Because the sun was the lowest in the sky.
At noon. Because the sun is at the highest point of the season ( and day ).
When finding the pattern of the shadows. Because I had to do some math to figure it out.
A lot about the shadows position and the reason behind the shadows position.
