Directions for Digital Learning Day!!!

5/30/2016

The following people need to grab a laptop and complete the work on the slip of paper that I hand you:

The rest of the class will be given their schedule for the day and need to go to their assigned location.

Tech Toys & Virtual Reality - Reading Nook

You will get a chance to play with our Sphero and create an obstacle course for it to travel through.

Learn about Ozobots and how they work by visiting this website & then play with them using paper and markers. You may want to use an iPad for this as well.

Discover how Little Bits and Spark Fun work by assembling them and seeing what happens.

Check out Virtual Reality goggles. Watch videos in 3-D on YouTube. Here are a bunch! You may NOT watch anything inappropriate for school, Don't take a chance at losing all future digital activities!

Breakout Digital - Classroom Desks

Grab a laptop and go to the blog post entitled BreakoutEDU - Digital. All of the directions you'll need are there.

If you finish early, I suggest trying "Catch the Bus" since it's intended for 5th graders.

If you don't finish in class, feel free to continue the challenge at home! Just write down the answers that you already came up with before shutting down for the day!

BreakoutEDU - Classroom Tables

In your assigned partnerships AND with your group of 6-8 students, complete the following tasks to "Break out" of the game!

Sign in to Google and THIS page on a computer.

Grab ONE Challenge Packet per group and complete it with your partner. You can use any resources that you'd like in the classroom & online to help you! You don't have to complete a page in order to enter the answer if you know it early! (On any other day, you do!)

Remember: One of you can't write with a pen/pencil and one of you can't type on a computer!

When you think you're done with a packet, enter the results on the correct Google Form below - it won't give you your next clue without everything being correct, so be careful!
  • Packet 1
  • Packet 2
  • Packet 3
  • Packet 4
  • Packet 5
  • Packet 6

If you finish any rotation early, feel free to sign up for Future Goals and start playing.

BreakoutEDU - Digital

Open this page in Chrome.

Sign into your Google account.

Go to this website: https://sites.google.com/site/digitalbreakoutjb/game-13

Your goal is to find the codes to all four lock combinations (Google Form on the left of the page). The clues to each are hidden on the web page or on links from the page. You will have to use your creative problem solving skills in order to be successful. Think "outside the box" and use your resources!

Good luck! If you complete "Find the Redstone," you may play "Catch the Bus" here (but don't start this until "Find the Redstone" has been completed successfully).

Escape to Earth is another fun one (but tough!).

If you are stuck, work together as a team to figure it out! This takes creative problem-solving to be successful.

This game will help you practice math computation, word problem skills, and reading comprehension. So you are required to have scratch paper and a calculator close by!

Create a Top 10 (or 25) List of things you're thankful for.  Put it into a Google Slideshow or make a video similar to Kid President!  Focus on the things in your life that you would struggle to live without, but be sure to think deeper than just physical possessions! :)  Happy Thanksgiving!

We are going to invite parents, grandparents, and others to get an email every time we create a new post. That way, they can comment on your work and help you improve!

To do this, you need to get the link to your RSS Feed.  Here's how you do that:

  1. Drag an "Embed Code" into your right-hand margin of your ePortfolio. (Mr. Solarz will show you how.)
  2. Copy the embed code that is below, and paste it into the "Embed Code" that you just dragged:
  3. Look on the top, right hand side of your ePortfolio.  It should look similar to the screen shot on the right...
  4. Click on RSS feed.
  5. Copy the URL.
  6. Replace the ___________ (line) in the embed code with your URL that you just copied.  Be careful not to replace the quotation marks from the code!
  7. Publish your page and have your family members submit their email addresses!
