  1. What is the KinderPals Program?
  2. In what ways do you think the program benefits the kindergartners? Try to explain several with support.
  3. Why is the KinderPals program beneficial to 5th graders? Believe it or not, you should be getting something out of the program as well!
  4. What challenges did you experience in KinderPals this year?
  5. What improvements could be made to the program for next year?
  6. Do you think the kindergartners enjoyed the stories from Peekapak? Why do you think that? Do you have any evidence to support your answer?

1. The KinderPals program is a program where kindergartners  get to have a good learning expierience and  so that  they get to learn some new things so they have  a good thing to learn in. 5th graders help kindergartners learn. also the kinderpal program is a program where the kindergartiners get to have a good time and see what they can do besides listening insted of listeninng some of them do some of the work.
2. In one way it shows that school is important. Another way that Kinder Pals helps them learn is that they get something important taught to them like how to read some new words. The third way that kinder pals helps them learn is by reading to them so that when they want to do something fun they might like reading because they learn it is fun to read. Why I think reading is important is that they get to have fun with their books and what kinds of books they choose and like, Another reason why it is good to read and learn is right now they look up at us say they want to be like us when they grow and get into other grades. So they learn that school is cool, and it is a good program because it teaches them not to take things without asking so they do not get in trouble with other this later on.
3. One way that it is helping me is that I get to see that I can help the little kids to learn not just what they know but what we know already. Another way that it helps me is that I look back at how I was as a kindergartner and how much I have improved on my work and especially my reading. The third way that I think was a great way to help me was not just teaching them the new words but some of those words that I forgot or that I did not know the meaning of them. It taught me some things to do there.
4. One challenge I had in some of the days we had kinder pals was It was a little bit hard because Colin did not know what some of the things meant. I had to explain them to him. Another challenge in kinder pals was him keeping him on topic instead of talking about  something else.
5. One way I think kinder pals should be improved on is how many days of kinder pals in a month because what they did this year is they did one day out of each month. What I think they should do next year is have kinder pals be 2 times a month. Another improvement is that we should draw pictures about the story after we finish it so we do not forget what the story was about. Drawing is a good way to help our brains remember something and kindergartners can draw better then thy can read so it would make them good at something in school.
6. One way that I think Colin liked the story was that he smiled and that showed us that he liked the story. Another way I think Colin liked it was that before we left he thanked us for helping him go through the program and learn things. A third way I think he liked  it was that he did a very good job of paying attention when Will and I were reading to him.

How to draw By: Colin O.

What do I know? I know I like to watch cartoons because they are funny. I also know that I like to see how different artists show different kinds of feelings and moods and actions in different ways. Daffy looks goofy. Taz looks angry. Bugs looks calm.

Picture

W

What do I want to know?  I want to know how the loony tunes artists make the expressions on their faces. Pepe Le pew looks in love because he has a rose in his mouth and his eyes are red. Speedy Gonzales looks Happy because he has a big smile on his face with his arms out and hes eyes are wide open.

How will I learn it? I will learn it by not tracing an outline. How I will also learn it is I will draw all the looney tunes
by looking at a picture and drawing what I see. This is Tweety. Her pretty eyes and eyelashes make her look like a girl and her eyes go up and out to make her look surprised, excited and scared. Sylvester's eyebrows go down and in, making him look mean and scary.

What Did I learn? What I learned was that a few lines for eyebrows make them look like they are scary, surprised  and happy. Yosemite Sam looks scary. Pete The Puma looks surprised. Penelope Pussycat looks happy.

What action did I take? The first action I took was I looked up several looney tunes pictures. Then I drew the 14 looney tunes pictures but I did not trace them I drew them by myself.
Picture

Q

The first question I have is How do you draw a looney tune In front of another? The second question is how do you put a tune that is moving in front of you by drawing it not tracing it.I drew these picture by looking at them.

The first thing I would do differently next time is I would start with the harder looney tunes first and then go on to the easier looney tunes once I got done with the hard ones. The second thing I would have done differently is I would have done ore backgrounds or would have added more backgrounds. One thing of advice I give to anyone who does a project liked this is I would tell them to do an easier drawing to do first if they are a cartoonist but if they were not then have them draw a picture and then add some more detail. The second thing of advice I give to anyone who does a project like mine I would say If they would then have to have to probably start with something small for drawing and then go on with a harder drawing.

Dependent Variable

Dependent Variables
  • Measure the height of each plant at certain checkpoints.

  1. Name your Control Variables (What will stay the same for each of the three cups)?
  2. Name the Independent Variable (What is it that is different for each of the three cups)?
  3. Name your Dependent Variable (What is it that you are testing & recording data on?)
  4. What data are you collecting to serve as Evidence to show how plants grow in organic material versus inorganic planting material?
  5. Why is everyone starting with the same three cups? Why do we need to test so many plants?
  6. What sprouts first in a seed: the stem or the root?
  7. How do you know? How do the pictures below help explain your answer for #6?
  8. Why do you think it goes in that order?

Evidence
Evidence
  • We can record our data using measurements (in cm).
  • or roots

Reflection/Synthesis Questions

1. The light and the water are the same for all the plants.

2. The amount of sand that the seed was planted in.

3.The size and appearance of a bean plant.

4. How much the plant grows and maybe the color of it.

5. In case one spills or if someone doesn't take good care of their plant.

6. The root so it can get water.

7. It looks like it is going down into the ground. The pictures look like white roots and go down into the ground.

8.The plant need strong roots for a strong base to grow up for sunlight.

Food, Matter and Energy

4/16/2018

  1. As a result of looking at food labels, what did you learn about food?
  2. Look at the ingredients of one human food label. Write down the food name. What ingredients came from animals?
  3. What ingredients in the above food label came from plants?
  4. What similarities and differences did you notice between the human food and pet food labels you looked at?
  5. Choose an animal/insect from the ecosystem walk. What do you think it eats? Explain what you think it gets from its food.

On the human food label:
  1. How do we find the energy (calories) per serving? We find the energy preserving to get the nutrients from the ground out of plants.
  2. How do we find the matter (carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals)?     We find the matter by looking at what part of the plant has the most nutrients.
  3. Where can we locate the list of ingredients?   We can find the Ingredients by looking on a food label at home or at a grocery store.

On the pet food label:
  1. Where can we locate the list of ingredients?    By looking at the side of the package or at the back of the package to see where and what the ingredients are and what they have in the ingredients.
  2. How do we find the percentage of different types of matter in the food?       We can look at the ingredients on the food label.

Reflect & Synthesize:
Answer the following questions in your blog post. Remember to have at least one follow-up sentence for each question, when possible.
  1. What does food provide to animals, including humans?
  2. Do the pet food and human food have the same nutrients? In what ways are they different?
  3. Does a higher calorie count mean a food is better for pets to eat? What makes pet owners think that?
  4. What is it in food that helps us repair our bodies and grow?
  5. What in food helps us move and stay warm?
  6. In what way does energy transfer when animals eat food?
  7. Look at the nutrition label below for milk. How much energy is in the food?
  8. What matter is in the food?
1. What I learned about food is that food is made of different ingredients.  Food helps the body for every living thing around us and in the world. Different kinds of food are needed for healthy nutrition for a person.

2. Ritz crackers.  No ingredients came from animals.

3. All the ingredients came from plants except salt and calcium phosphate. They are chemicals. The ingredients from plants are enriched wheat flour, granola oil, palm oil, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, soy lecithin, and something called natural flavor.

4. One similarity I saw in the human food label and in the pet food label was they both had calcium and vitamin in them. One difference I saw in the human food label is that the human food label had way less calcium then the pet food label. Another difference in the human food label and in the pet food label was that  the pet food label had way more ingredients in it then the human food label would ever have.

5. The insect I saw when we went on our nature walk was an earthworm and what an earthworm gets out of it's food when it eats is nutrients from the soil. How the worm gets its nutrients from small things of soil, such as like decaying roots and leaves. Animal manures are an important part of food source they have so many good stuff for the earthworm to eat from the soil like they eat living organisms from the soil like nematodes, protozoans, rotifers, bacteria and fungi from the soil to get nutrients.

Reflection/Synthesis Questions

The things that ducks get from ecosystems is food.
I know the answer because a ecosystem can be a living thing or a dead thing.
A ecosystem is a thing that is either living or dead.

  • Deer
  • water
  • trees
  • clouds
  • rocks or pebbles
My question about ecosystems is that
where and when do ducks stay in the summer.
  • fish eat smaller fish
  • fish live in water
  • fish live in cold and warm places

What me and all animals get from food is nutrition, soy, wheat.
The strength and vitality required for sustained or mental activity.
It is measured by the length of time that their is.
We need energy so that we can do important things and fun things in life.
So they can hunt, roam around, get away from the animals that are bigger than them if the bigger animals are trying to eat them.
Physical substance in general, a distinct from mind and spirit.
So that we can do the things that we already do and more.

I was at math so I did not get to do the blog post.
