What Do We Know? | What Do We Want To Know? | How Will We Learn That Information? |
I, Giuliana, know that dancing is something the whole world shares in common. Some dances are done alone, while others in a group. Some require movement in the arms, while others require it in the legs. Samba is a dance that is most famous in Brazil. Tango is usually danced with a partner. I, Charlotte, have like no experience in dancing. But this project still looked fun because it is fun to dance but I just don't do any classes for it and I also don't dance professionally at all. I do want to learn where different dances originated from though too. | I, Charlotte, want to know where different dances originated from, like an Indian dance and see if it actually originated from India. I also want to know if I can try to dance different dances that are from different places. Like I want to try to dance an Indian dance. I am not sure if i will be able to do it but that might be half the fun! I, Giuliana, wonder what parts of the body you have to move in the different dances and what do different movements mean. | We will research where the dances originated from and also we will watch videos explaining how to do it. We will then make a bunch of videos so that other people that want to know how to dance it will have the privilege to watch a video that we made. |
What Did We Learn? | What Action Did We Take? | What Questions Do We Still Have? |
We learned that there are many dances that originate from a whole lot of different places. I, Charlotte, am not personally a very experienced dancer. I did dancing when I was little but hadn't danced in a really long time. I learned that with dancing you can kind of pick up on where you left off, even if you haven't danced in a while. I also learned that you can easily learn dances that might have seemed hard before, but are now not as scary to try to dance to. I, Giuliana, learned that a big part of dance is rhythm. Most dances require timed foot movements (e.g one, two, one, two) Also, I learned that most dances, no matter where it originates, requires movement in the hips. | We taught others to dance by shooting how-to videos. We taught them dances that might have been hard to do in your head, but are now easier because we might have taught them how to do it. | Some questions that I still have are; Did all American dances originate from America? Did we take ideas of dances from other countries and make it into dances like our culture? |
Charlotte's Reflection:
What was hard for me and Giluiana to do for our passion time project was to research about how to do the dance. It was hard to find the exact dance that we were looking for, since there are a bunch of different versions of each dance that we made. What was easy for us to find was where the dance originated from, since there were many websites for each dance. What I really thought was fun was making the videos themselves. I liked being able to learn a new dance and then teach someone else how to do the dance. What I thought was boring was having to research where the dances originated from. Since i might have already known where it originated from. What I would do differently next time is I would plan my time better so that we could easily get to each dance without rushing. Some advice that I would give to others that I learned form this project is that you should make some sort of plan at the beginning so that each day you know what you should be doing and you don't waste time. I learned a lot about different dances from this project because I have never been a very serious dancer, I now know more about dancing than I definitely did before I started this project. This was a fun project because I got to learn a lot about dancing, things that I didn't know before.

Giuliana's Reflection:
I really enjoyed this project. Dancing has always been part of my family, so it was cool to learn some new things. I loved working with Charlotte, a fun, reliable partner. She was always willing to try anything and pushed herself on hard dances. It was fun to learn new things, but not researching. Something that was hard for us was figuring out where different dances came from. Every site said something different and it took tons of time to check what sources are reliable. I really wished we had time to do more because we had to cut out two dances. Overall, I learned lots about dance and would have continued this project.
