Reflect on the 7-8 times we worked with our KinderPals this year.

What is the KinderPals Program?
In what ways do you think the program benefits the kindergartners? Try to explain several with support.
Why is the KinderPals program beneficial to 5th graders? Believe it or not, you should be getting something out of the program as well!
What challenges did you experience in KinderPals this year?
What improvements could be made to the program for next year?
Do you think the kindergartners enjoyed the stories from Peekapak? Why do you think that? Do you have any evidence to support your answer?

The KinderPals program is a program is where 4th and 5th graders teach kindergartners about different emotions. They also learn how they will effect them and how they effect us.
One way that PeakaPak benefits the kindergartners by them learning new things and different ways to read peoples emotions. It also benefits them by them learning new emotions.
It benefits the 5th graders because it is fun to teach kindergartners new things and emotions.
I didn't really experience any challenges because it way easy to teach KinderPals.
The program was fun and all I feel it needed to be more creative.
I really trust that the kindergartners enjoyed the PeekaPak stories. I think that because they looked so mesmerized and that means there listening.

Reflection/Synthesis:

Plants need energy and matter to grow. Where do plants get their ENERGY?
Where do plants get their MATTER?
Where do plants get their FOOD (be careful - this is a trick question)?
Why are plants called Producers?
What would happen if plants didn't have a way to get energy?
What would happen to animals if there were no plants to eat?
What are some of the LIVING components of a plant "system"? (A plant "system" is everything that a plant needs to survive and everything it produces.)
What are some of the NON-LIVING components of a plant "system"?
In what ways do the components of the system interact?
What matter is transported in and out of the plant system?

Answers:

The plants get their energy from the sun.
Plants start with matter and it can't be created or destroyed.
Plants get there nutrients from the sun and sometimes from the soil.
Plants are called producers because they give nutrients to animals that eat them.
They would die with no energy.
all the animals that ate the plants would die out because the did not get the energy they needed.

On the human food label: How do we find the energy (calories) per serving?
How do we find the matter (carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals)?
Where can we locate the list of ingredients?
On the pet food label: Where can we locate the list of ingredients?
How do we find the percentage of different types of matter in the food?

Answer

At the top that says amount per serving, calories is right under it.
There is a bold line under the calories, that is where the matter is located.
If you look at the bottom of the label it list the ingredients.

Create a BALLAD POEM:
The ballad stanza is also one of the most popular forms of poetry for children. A ballad stanza is a group of four lines. That group is called a stanza. The ballad stanza has a rhyme at the end of line number two and line number four. Here are three poems that have ballad stanzas. The first poem has three ballad stanzas. The last two poems have two. The first two poems are from Tickle Day, the last poem is from Halloween Night.

The Bee Poem

A poem is a busy bee
Buzzing in your head.
His hive is full of hidden thoughts
Waiting to be said.

His honey comes from your ideas
That he makes into rhyme.
He flies around looking for
What goes on in your mind.

When it's time to let him out
To make some poetry,
