What was hard about the game? Explain in detail!
Was the game a valuable use of class time? If so, why? If not, why not?
Regardless of your answer to #2 above, if you were marketing this game to teachers, what would you claim this game is good for in the classroom? What skills do students learn from this game?

Answers:
1. The only thing that was hard for me and my partner was figuring out in the beginning what the directions meant. We didn't know how to work the wires or any of the other gadgets. The first few, we failed, but then we got the hang of it we worked well together and completed the rest.
2. I think the game was a valuable use of class time because we practiced collaborating which is a huge part of our class. We collaborate in everything: Responsibility partners, the 21 Century Skills packet, and everything else. This gave us even more experience working toward a silent day.
3. I think I would tell teachers that you can only succeed at this game if you communicate and collaborate well with your peers. It also helps people get along with each other while doing something fun. This game focuses on communicating to others, and being patient with one another.

What do I already know about Mars

It is the only planet that could possibly support life in our solar system
It has a thinner atmosphere than Earth
Iron-oxide makes it red
There is a lot of radiation
Dust storms
Almost the same axis as Earth

What do you know about NASA's plans to visit Mars?
How long will the trip take?
What supplies and equipment will the astronauts need to survive there?
What do you think are the risks of traveling to such a distant planet?
What would you want to bring with you?

They will probably go there early next century. They want to send survival supplies effectively. Limit technology problems.
It will take 6 months if they launch when Earth went directly in front of Mars. They would stay on Mars for 1.5 years.
They will maybe have a lot of plants so you can recycle, get water, and eat. They would need flexible spacesuits that distributes the weight effectively.
One risk is when they travel to Mars, they wight get hit by Astroid dust hits them, they would die. Weightlessness is another problem. Bones lose calcium, and the muscles lose strength.They need to find a good way to exercise.
I would just bring the essentials for surviving and 1 or two things to do when I am bored.

Pretend the world is a village of 100
Each person would represent 70,000,000
It is explaining the metaphor of the village.
Pg 8: 60 come from Asia
15 are from Africa
11 Europe
5 are from Canada and U.S
1 is from oceana
It explaining the ratio of all of the places in the world and how populated. Nationalities group together. Where people come from into the village. Most people come from Asia, and the top 6 populated countries.
Pg 10 almost 6000 languages
More than half of the people of the village speak 8 languages.

The purpose of this page was to tell us about all of the languages that occur in the village. There are 6,000 in the world, and in the village, the majority of the people speak 8 languages

This page tells me about all of the ages in the villages and what ages are going to increase or decrease over the next few years. And it tells us how the ages have changed from the last couple decades.

It blew my mind that ¼ of the world does not have electricity. It also was crazy that only 10% of energy comes from renewable sources.

This surprised me a lot because 6% of the world gets Malaria. It is good that 80% get vaccines.

This statistic that surprised me the most is the thing about Malaria. 6% of all people in the world get Malaria each year! Something that was funny and surprising is that there are 7 times as many chickens than people in the world!
The thing that upset me the most was that the poorest people in the village only made $2 per 12 hours of work each day, while others get more than $6 a day. This upset me because if the money was divided equally, everyone would have enough money to sustain themselves.
The thing that made me want to do something the most was with the food situation. 17% of all of the people of the world are always hungry. It said in the book that if all of the food in the world was divided equally, everyone would be well fed. But instead, it is not divided equally, and some people just throw food away.
The thing I could do is to make sure I am not putting food to waste, and encouraging others to do the same. I can also go to places where they make food for the hungry and volunteer there. I can also participate in canned food drives and meal programs.

My teacher, Mr. Solarz, was fortunate enough to travel to Dubai last week for an education conference and to meet former Top 50 Global Teacher Prize candidates for the Varkey GEMS Global Teacher Prize. He shared his unbelievable experience with us, and here are some things that I learned from our discussion:

I learned that no matter what culture, race, or any other thing, we are all more alike than we are different. We get to know each other more once we get to know each other, and when we learned about their background, we become friends.
I learned about different types of cultures and how people distribute their marbles. I learned about the way people are kind to others even though they might have mental illness.
I also learned that the president of the Varki foundation believes that no matter how rich or poor you are, you should always give to the poorer until the point where it effects you in a way

Answers:

1. I chose this poem simply because it is a funny poem and is fun to read out loud. I like the author in Shel Silverstein and it just really makes you laugh. This is different from other poems because it is a short poem that ends abruptly and it leaves you smiling.
2. The thing I like about poetry is that it is easy to read and makes you laugh. It comes in all different shapes and forms, and it is just a fun short read!

Answers:

1. I learned about what the women rights were back then and what life was like in general. It really told us good information and gave fun facts as well.
2. Agnes Morley Cleaveland changed the world by playing in the first women basketball game. She helped people realize that women had the same rights as men and could do all the same things they could.
3. I could inspire people by acting kind to others so they could pay it forward. Then people would realize the meaning of being kind and how it can effect the world.
