What I KNOW

I know that some street names were named after some tribes(Wing-a-man). Also That Louisiana is named after King Loewi of Spain.
What I WANT TO KNOW

I want to know if native American tribes were named after some states.
HOW I will find My Information
I will find my answer on safe search on Google. Also on You Tube.
What did I LEARN

I learned that almost all the states were named after Native american tribes and rivers and explores. I found it interesting that it also that the spelling was different.

What ACTION did I take

The action that I took was making a website and making a screen cast to go with it.
What new QUESTIONS do I have now

Some new questions that I have now are........
A lot native american and explores got to name the state, but did any one else? Were any states named after people or even food?

Hanna's Reflection

I think what was easy was that I already knew what would happen because I have worked with weebly before. Also I think that I knew so much that I willing to help a lot of people with there work. One more thing that I think that was easy, I think that that was my mom's favorite and my favorite subject {that kind of history in school} and so I knew a lit from all and I mean ALL her stories about Native American Tribes!
I think that I would have done differently next time was that I would have worried about finding my facts instead of socializing with my friends. Also I think that I could have not worried about making the website and find the facts.
I think that the advice that I would give to others that are doing a project like this, I would say that I would advise you to go to metal floss.com and look there. That was my top website. Also to anybody who is doing a project, I would say to think about the time that you have left and move away from friends. Now, I know it might sound bad, but trust me! I think it will help you focus on getting the things done. Think of the 7 habits!
I had a lot of fun doing this project and I love having Mr. Solarz as my teacher! I love his creative ways and I am glad to learn about this topic!!

I liked how you had lots of decorative things on your site, and how you had the survey. I also liked how you showed your Trello card, your KWHLAQ, and your 'about' page. I liked how you paused so we can read what you had on the page. I also liked how you had a nice and neat bibliography, instead of just pretending it was all your things.

I really enjoyed watching your video because it was fun to look at. You had pictures and words and decor. That made your site very interesting. I also liked how you were energetic in your video and let people read all that you had written, not just speed through it. I always wonder about how the states got their names and you helped me learn all about it! You did a wonderful job on this project!

Hi! I'm Gabi. I really enjoyed watching your project becauseI found it very interesting. I read your KWHLAQ chart, and I think you did a very good job researching the Midwestern states. After watching your video, I wonder how other places were named! I loved viewing your work!

That is really interesting. I knew that states were mostly named after people, but I didn't know they were named after Native American tribes. Are states or cities are named after geographical features? Great Job!

Hi, i'm Lauren from Davis. I found your project to be very captivating! For a long time I wondered why each state were given a specific name rather than being called "state #43". Your project really made this clear. You did an amazing job.

Hi, I'm a different Gabi! This idea is so cool! I wish that I would have thought of this!! You video was put together really well and so was your KWHLAQ. I have to make the same things for mine. After watching this, I wonder why other states not in the midwestern areas are named what they are. Great job and keep up the good work!!!

Wow! I did not know anything about this subject, but now I feel like I have learned everything I need to know. This project was extremely informative and well constructed. I had no idea that almost all the states were named after Native american tribes, rivers, and explores. I also wonder where most of the countries around the world received their names.

It's interesting that you chose this for your Genius Hour because I have always wondered how states got their name. I know that some places have their name because of the person who found the land but I'm sure that is not that case for every place or state. I really liked this and this is probably a topic I would do a Genius Hour on.

Thanks! I love history too! I chose the Midwestern states because I live in Illinois which is in the mid western region. I was going to do all of the US but I didn't have enough time! Thank for visiting my website!
