Stop and Jot
- Sounds sad so far
- Jessie is teaching grandma how to write
- Grandma is teaching Jessie how to sew
- I think Jessie is 11 years old
- She is really 13
- Jessie has the [pleasure] of going on a ship to America by herself
- I think she packed lace so that she can sew
- I wonder how much people are on this ship Jessie is on
- Then a few days later they saw the statue of liberty
- The statue of liberty was built in 1885 so that means that this part of the book took place after it was built
- She moved in with [aunt] Kate, who is a sewer,
- They sewed together
- They sewed wedding dresses
- A boy that she met on the ship asked her to marry him
- Than grandma moved to America and brought the ring her mother gave her for Jessie's weeding
