Here is my explanation of how the electoral college works:
The electoral college works based on population in states. If the state has a big population, the more "electoral votes" it has. If you win more states but they have small electoral votes, you will most likely loose because of the electoral college. Also if you win more votes then your opposing candidate, but he/she has more electoral votes, you just lost the presidential election. That was my explanation of how the electoral college works.
Here is my explanation of why more states are red but how Hillary Clinton still won the popular vote:
Hillary Clinton won the popular vote because of the results of the votes in the states, she won by a long shot (she won by a lot of votes), but Donald Trump still won the election based off of electoral votes. If she won more electoral votes she would've won President. She also won the states with the bigger population and she won CALIFORNIA which has a big population (38,332,521 for a population and also its the biggest population for a state!).
Whether you're happy or not, what are some things you hope that President Trump will be able to do for our country over the next four years. If you're not sure, Google it and research what his plans are.
I hope Donald Trump will us safe, help the environment and keep our country, The United States of America far from debt. I also hope that he will think of others and help the homeless with charities and give money to them but also balance the money and protect us from attacks. I hope he will be responsible with being president and won't be greedy.
Illinois has traditionally been a Democratic state when it comes to Presidential Elections. Explain why.
Illinois has cities and isn't really that rural, and states with cities (like Illinois) tend to be more Democratic, and on the map it just proves that the ones that have more cities than other states are usually democratic, and usually Illinois is democratic because of Chicago and like California because of its big and popular cities. That is why Illinois is usually a democratic state.
