Today Kai got his pinkie cut off. Both him and Matilda are fine but injured. Iskander on the other hand is not ok. He is very ill and had to stay behind. Alexandrina fell in love and is now married. Best wishes for you and your man Alexandrina. We are now low on money and had to sell a wagon, some oxen, and other goods that we needed for this journey. Hopefully nothing bad happens in the rest of this time, for we are low on supplies, and no longer do we have as many workers to help on this journey.
Today a man got lost and he could not find us so he started runing to find the wagon train. He folled the river and buffalo tracks. Today Iskandar
So I felt really bad because one of the family's had to stay behind because of a very ill sickness, and we are worried that the rest of us will get it two because the wagon train ahead of us is very ill and the symptoms are fever and the disease is very deadly. We are leaving notes on skulls of animals so that other wagon trains behind us will get advice of where to rest and what to be wherry of. The rivers helped a man who got lost find us again. The reason he got lost was because he stared at a grave of a friend that died in the Wagon train ahead of them. So today something tragic happened, and it wasn't the fraud with the snake oil to help Iskandar Alatas. The tragic mishap was how Iskandar was developing the same sickness the the Hatfield's and the Murry's had. Then we had to quanty Iskandar so the others wont get sick as well. Then Matilda Fault's foot was felling the same and a little better so we did not have to worry about her today.
Today in day 7 - We had to wait for almost a whole day because about 1000 buffalo's were crossing so we only had traveled about 4 miles that day, then it happened a gun shot when off and a buffalo came charging at the wagon train, but thankfully it didn't hit us! We also had to vote if we wanted to kill coyotes and wolves to get there fur to make some money in Oregon! Today in day 8 - The next day we finally got to Fort Kearny it was so great our feet were sore and our legs felt like they were going to fall of we have walked all the way here only riding on the wagon if we needed to. When we saw the fort we were all a little surprised because it isn't as big as we thought and we thought it would look more protective. We had to talk to a doctor there because Matilda had green stuff on her leg were we cut her foot off. But the doctor wanted us to pay him 100 dollars so we decided to boil water let it cool put it on her foot to clean it and then we bought an ivy for $20 and put medicine in it and the green stuff is now gone and her foot looks a lot better now so we have to see if it clears the infection and hopefully she doesn't get sepsis!
Today we were figuring out what to do with Matilda Faulk's foot. When we were deciding what to do there were conflicts because we needed to think if it would make it worse or cure it. When we were thinking about using soap we figured out that it has ashes in it, and someone mentioned that ashes were bad for the human body to get inside, but the shop owner told us it was OK after we didn't use it. When the whole group decided to use an iv into the vein with the proper medicine we used it and after time it turned out that Matilda was totally fine... For Now.....
Today in Day 6 we figured out what games we play. We listened to the podcast and he pause it and we watched the videos of the games. We could play Hoops Game, Cat’s Craddle, 100 or 50 yard dash, Tag, Crack the Whip, Simon Says, Cup and Ball, Dominoes, and Hopscotch. We can also play more games. What we also learned that we could listen to songs like Grandpa had a Grandpa and Buffalo gal. We learned that they did lots of chores.
Today in Day 7 Mr. Solarz rolled a dice to find the fate of our infected feet. He rolled a twelve sided dice and he rolled a 3 so 3 people got a infection. He then picked sticks and Matilda, Elin, and Antonia had the infection. So then he rolled again and a 1-3 is safe, 4-9 is two weeks on the wagon on medicine, and a 10-12 you have to cut off your foot. Antonia and Elin had two weeks in the wagon, and Matilda got her foot cut off. Then we read passages about how Buffalo chips were used to play and for fire when there was no wood. We also read about what people ate, how and what people hunted, and finally how and when people woke up. Day 4 Today we discovered that some of the people in our group have blisters. This is a real problem because blisters can be painful and infected. We needed a solution to our problem so we decided that we wanted to drain all of the pus inside of the blisters. We decided that we were going to take a needle and clean the needle with some soap and water. then we would take the needle and gently poke the blister with the clean needle and then wrap the drained blister with bandages and other stuff to cover the blister with other first aid protective covering. Now we SHOULD be safe but not for sure. Day 5 In day 5, we reached the Kansas River. The problem that we faced was “How do we cross the river?” We researched and found that we could Ford the river, Float the river, or Ferry the river. If we chose to Ford the river, we would walk across the river with our bad blisters. If we floated across the river, we would float. If we chose to ferry the river, there was a man willing to take the carriages and animals across, but for money, which we didn’t have a lot of. Our whole class voted. At first, majority people wanted to ferry the river. Some people also wanted to build our own boat. At the end, we decided to Ford the river. We rolled the dice and we crossed safely.
