One of the things that surprised me a lot was how fast the population in the village grew and it grew more and more rapidly as time went on. Another statistic that surprised me was even though about half of the people in the village make less than $6 a day there are more telephones than people in the village. I was really sad to hear that some people were getting paid less than $2 a day. Another very sad fact I learned is that 41 people live in an area where they are susceptible to Malaria. These very sad facts make you want to do something and you can. You can volunteer at a soup kitchen, send goods to people in need, or even just raise awareness of the severe problems people are facing.
