How Do Our Bones Move?

  • 1.Have you ever injured a joint? (Sprained ankle, dislocated shoulder, tennis elbow, etc.) How did it feel? What things were difficult to do after the injury?
  • 2.Which of their moveable joints would be the hardest to live without?
  • 3.What things would be difficult to do without that joint?
  • 4.If you had to choose one of your moveable joints to live without, which one would it be? Why?
  • 5.Is there any movement they could do without joints? (I can think of at least one.)
  • 1. I have never injured a joint so I do not know what it what it would feel like. If I did injure a joint I think it would feel very painful.
    2. I think the the jaw would be the hardest to live without. I think it would be the hardest because you couldn't eat, talk, or drink.
    3. Somethings that would be difficult would be

eating, talking, or drinking. These would be difficult because our jaw would drop down and we couldn't eat unless we ate like a pig. We wouldn't be able to talk unless we talked in a weird voice. We wouldn't be able to drink because it is very hard
    4. If I had to choose one joint it would be my elbows because you could still do everything except bend your elbows.
    5. There is a movement we could do and it is falling. It is falling because we would not be able to move and would just fall straight to the ground.

    Sings of Exertion

    12/8/2014

    Picture
    • What five basic things do humans need in order survive?
    • If we exert ourselves, what are three (or more) signs that our bodies are in distress? Explain why our body does that (research it if you need to).
    • What can we do to make these signs go away?

The five basic things that our body needs to survive are food, water, sleep, shelter, and energy. I think these are the five basic things because it is impossible to survive without them.
Three things that are sings of our body being in
distress are Breathing deeply, head pounding, and heart pounding. Our body does these things to tell us we need to do something like get hydrated or eat or slow down.
Some ways we can make these sings go away is by doing what your body is telling you what to do lie eat or drink or something like that.

    Observing And Describing an Apple

    Picture
    1.   The apple smells very fresh like it was just picked from an apple tree.
    2.  The apple feels very smooth on the outside and it is almost like a wet slimy feel in the inside. On the outside the skin is almost squishy but not so squishy. The seeds feel smooth to and hard. When I felt the apple
    3.  The apple is rotting up in the inside but if you look very closely in the middle it looks fussy. When I poke a hole in the apple watery stuff is coming up like a volcano.  When I dug up the middle the apple started to rot up. The inside of a seed is white.
    4.  When I poke a hole in the skin I here a popping noise.

    1. Why were you able to observe so many things about your apple today?
    2. Why is observation and description so important in science?
    3. Rank order the five senses in the order or your observations (i.e. which sense was used most, second most, etc
    1. The one place I was able to observe so many things was the middle. It was the middle because the middle was opened up and we could see so many other things.
    2. Observation and description are very important because without
observation and description we would not be able to observer and describe what we see or hear.
    3. The
sense I used the most was probably touch, sight, smell, hear, and then taste. I put them in this order by how much facts I had on them and I did not use taste at all because all the people in my group were touching the apple.

How Might Humans and Aliens Be Different?

    Human
    Picture
Us Humans need our arms to pick up, drop, and grab items. Without arms in this environment we wouldn't be able  to to many things. We have a mouth to speak, breath, and eat. Without a mouth we could not live because we would not be able to eat. We have a nose to breath, and smell. Without a nose it would be very hard to live because we wouldn't be able to smell. We have feet so we can walk, and run. If we didn't have feet we wouldn't be able to walk or run and life would be very difficult. If we didn't have any of these parts we would never be able to survive.
    Alien
    Picture
This Alien will survive. It will survive because the planet is a rocky planet and the claws on the arms/feet will be able to walk on the rocky grounds. It will also survive because the only food sources are berries and seeds and the beak can easily pluck them of the bushes. One other part that helps it survive is it's one eye it only has one eye so it can see the bushes for food.
  • 1.Do we have cells similar to the aliens you created?  How or why not?
  • 2.Humans (and probably aliens) have cells that have special functions.  What are some of these cells and what organs and systems are they a part of?
  • 1.We do not have cells similar to the aliens because the cells they have are harder cells then what we have. The cells are harder because they have to create scales.
    2. Some of these cells could be cells that help with the brain or the heart. The cells could help with any because until the cell is put with one it could choose another cell.

Human Body Pre- and Post Test

    1. What was the hardest part of this activity?
    2. Which organs do you think you put in the right places?
    3. Which organs do you think are probably in the wrong places?
    1. The hardest part about this activity was making the shapes of the organs and putting them in the places they belong. The hardest one was probably the spleen because we had absolutely no idea were it went and what shape it was.
    2. The Heart, Lungs, Stomach, Kidneys, Brain, skin, and Eyes.I thought these were in the right places because I had a lot of background knowledge on those items.
    3. I think the organs that were misplaced were the Bladder, Gallbladder, and all the other ones that I did not list in the other question. I thought this because I had no background knowledge on the organs.

    1. Who was your famous person and why were they famous?
    2. Why is it important for children to study specific people's lives from a time period in history?
    3. What was the hardest part about completing your Revolutionary War Hero Project? What made it hard?
    4. How did it make you feel to complete your Revolutionary War Hero Project without much help from adults? Why?
    1. My famous person was Samuel Adams. He was famous for always standing up for his rights and never backed down from the British.
    2. It is very important for children to study specific people from a time period because if they do they will get a better understanding of there past and what it was like back then.
    3. The hardest part about completing my Revolutionary War Hero project was the tubechop part because it took the longest and I mest up a lot so I had to start over.
    4. Finally when I finished the Revolutionary War Hero project I felt like I completed the most challenging project I have ever done. I felt this way because it actually was the hardest assignment, but it didn't seem like a lot to me.

    Describing a Character

    1. How hard was it to describe your creature?
    2. What did you do well?
    3. What do you wish you did better so your partner could have drawn it better?
    4. How well did you do in drawing your partner's creature?
    5. What do you wish they did better to have helped you draw the creature better?
    1. It was not that hard it was only hard when I was running out of detail. Overall the writing was pretty easy and very fun.
    2. One thing that I did well was describing the creatures affects and how it appeared. It was not easy but I thought I did well on it.
    3. I wish I could have described the ears better because they were supposed to be down not up. I could have said " The ears flopped down it's cheeks."
    4. I didn't do so good because it came out really different then the actual picture.
    5. I wish they could have described the the body better because the body messed up my hole drawing.

    Revolutionary War Tug-of-Rope

    11/6/2014

They Red team represented the British. They were the tallest and the strongest because they are muscular men and the British was training them for there full time job plus they are the the mighty British in other words the strongest army. The blue team represented the colonist. They had fewer men because the men they had were not trained to fight in battle and they had to train more and more men and they had to stay behind to train so that is why the colonists had fewer people to fight in battle. The white team represented Spain and France. They came in late because they did not have to come but they decided to come and help because they both hated the British and wanted them to win against British.

The blue team got a prize if they won because they were protecting the land they claimed and that is a bigger task to do then to attack. There was one team member that was not offered a prize because he was a slave and slaves do not get much if they help and sometimes they will bet nothing. The white team was cheering for the blue team because the white team hated the red team and wanted them to feel a shame of them selves.

Part of the red team joined late because the red team was the British and the British had to travel all the way from there homes to the Americas and that is a far travel to get across the ocean.  The red team had to pull the rope to the flag because they had to take over not just keep on tugging. On the other hand the blue team had to just prevent the red team from taking over so they just had to prevent it and that is easier then tacking over.
  • 1.Which team were you a member of?
  • 2.How did you feel at the beginning of the game?
  • 3.Who did you think would win the game at first (RED or BLUE)?  Why?
  • 4.How did you feel as the rules changed?  Did you get discouraged or more confident?  Why?
  • 5.What were the reasons why the BLUE team won?
  • 1.The team I was on was the red team.
2.The way I felt in the beginning of the game was strong. I felt this because I was the British and they were the strongest army.
3.I thought the Blue team would win because they had more people. I also thought we would win because we were the strongest army in the world.
4.As the rules changed I felt
discouraged because the other team was cheating by attacking at no warning. As they started to get more help I got worried that we were going to lose.
    5. The reasons the blue team won was because they got more help from there alies and they started to attack without warning. When we lost I was not happy but it was just a game representing the Revolutionary War.
