Reflection and Synthesis Questions:

How did the temperatures of the water in the two red Solo cups compare at the beginning?
What happened to the temperature of the cold water over time?
What happened to the temperature of the warm water over time?
How did your graph show what happened? Explain carefully!
After 15 minutes, what did you notice about the lines on your graph?
What happened to make the temperature of the cold water get warmer?
What happened to make the temperature of the warm water get colder?
Use your line graph to predict when the two lines would merge. Describe. Why did you choose this timeframe?
Which direction did the heat energy move?

Answers:

At the beginning, the two water cups where different. One had a temperature of 104 degrees and the other one had a temperature of 30 degrees.
The water in the cold cup, slowly started to rise in temperature. It came closer to the temperature in the warm cup. At the end it came to 64 degrees instead 34 degrees like before it when up.
The water in the warm cup dropped down more than the cold cup when up. The warm water started at 104 degrees and ended and about 80 degrees.
The graph showed what happened over time with the water. It showed how the temperatures compared overtime. It also showed how much and when the temperatures dropped.
After fifteen minutes, nothing much had happened. The temperatures had dropped a few degrees but it changed the most when it was 30 min.
I think it changed because the temperature around it was different. For instance the room is 72 degrees and the water changed from cold to getting warmer because it was warmer around the cup.
I think it dropped in temperatures because it was colder around the cup. It was again 72 degrees in the room. Having something colder around it makes temperature change. So it dropped in temperature.
I think the lines would merge 30 minutes after the time stopped. That would merge at 1 hour and 30 minutes. I believe because they were pretty close when an hour stopped. But, it takes longer to go up as it goes closer in temperature. The temperature I think it would get to 72 degrees because that is the area around it temperature.
I think they heat energy went down. Because heat has more energy than cold. So, it would go down in energy.

What was your favorite station? Why?
Which object was most difficult to figure out? Why was it so hard to figure out the energy transfers in this object?
Why did you choose the four videos above? What criteria did you use to select those?
Was it always possible to know for sure what kinds of energy transfers occurred?

My favorite station was the electro lamp and ball. It was my favorite station because it was so cool when you touched it because the light strands would connect to your finger and it was really cool to watch
The hardest thing to figure out was the energy ball. It was hard because, you didn't really know what it was. Also, it was hard because when just you put your fingers on the ball it worked, but when you and someone else used it and didn't touch, it didn't work.
I choose these videos above because me and my partner put a lot of thought in to those. We put thought into the other ones to, but I believe that those items we put one of our best efforts in those because they were harder. I also chose them because I thought they were right too.
It wasn't always possible to know witch energy transfers were right. I mean it was possible if you could take it a part. But, in are case we couldn't take it apart because other groups needed to use them. For example, the fan had something spinning in the motor but you couldn't see it.
