1. Playing a video game in math class can be really fun. What are some of the other benefits of playing video games to learn concepts? 2. Pretend that our school district is banning Money Island from the curriculum. Using strong examples of what you've learned, politely fight to keep this program around! (What have you learned from Money Island?) Write a persuasive/argumentative essay that can convince them to keep it around. Organize your thoughts before you start writing. It should follow the same format as our Human Body Research Papers. | 1. Another benefit of a video game is learning. A very important benefit of a video game. Money Island is a great example of this. Money Island is fun, but is also very educational too. You go through different levels in the game and characters in the game teach you about money and smart ways to use it. You also can earn money, and do other things with it like put it in the bank, spend it on wants, and pay your bills. But that is not the only educational game out there. Another game that I have played in my homeroom is called iCivics. iCivics a website with multiple games that all have to do with We the People and our government. In one of the games fake people come to your office and you have to decide how to help them. Either they don’t have the right to whatever they are asking, or if they do have the right to whatever they are asking. That is another educational game. Why I love these games is because they are super fun games and they include learning. That is the main benefit of these games in my opinion. 2. Money Island is a really fun game. But, you could take that the wrong way. It is not only fun, but yet very educational and it teaches you what to do with your money. It teaches you about it and then you take little tests to make sure you understand it. If you get a question right, you get earned income. Money Island is a great game to bring into the classroom. If you get rid of Money Island, you could let a lot of kids down. In Money Island, your main achievement is to save Stone Broke (a child who never learned about money). You get to go to six fictional characters throughout your journey. You learn about budgeting your money. You can either spend, save, share, or invest your money. Spending means to give someone your money for something in return. Saving means to not spend some of your money for a while either to save up, or for backup. Sharing means to give some money to charity. Finally, investing means to use your money for a business, to make more money. Next, you learn to use your money for taxes, wants and needs. Paying taxes means that you have to spend money to help your government with roads or things like that. Paying for needs means to pay for things that you need like food, water, or shelter. Finally, paying for wants is when you buy things that you want like toys or video games. You also learn how to make money in your sleep. For example, if you buy a business you can make money in your sleep because when your business makes money, some of it goes to you. Anyway, all of these are things that you learn about. If you get rid of this game, you could make kids sad and it is almost telling them that they can’t learn about money in fifth grade. All of these things that you learn about in Money Island are things that you will need to know for your future life. If you take this away, kids may not be able to learn about this kind of stuff at the right time. I personally have learned a lot from this game and would encourage kids to play it. So now you know what Money Island is, some of the things it teaches, and how it could affect kids if they don’t play it. Money Island is a very fun game. Kids love it. But, it is also a very educational game too. And that is important. |

My notes on the video:
I was traveling in a forest and came to a halt. I was eating my chicken sandwich, and something else came my way. A grey hyena had come to me and was walking in circles around me. At that time, I was a miserable man. I had an idea. I ran and had to climb a tree. I got high on a branch and started panicking. The hyena started giving its evil laugh, and I knew the final solution, I through him the sandwich. It worked, he ran away once he had it in his mouth. That was classic traveling.
Reflection: I learned that whenever I would exorcize, my heart rate would usually go up. When I was just resting, my heart rate was 80 beats. Then at the end, when I ran in place, my heart rate was 120. I thought it was really fun hearing my heart beat. I have always seen doctors do it and wanted to try it and today I did! It was really fun using the tools to hear it. It was a little tough hearing the heart beats because the class was a little loud. It was also hard keeping track. Especially when your heart would beat two a time. That was another thing I learned too. Sometimes your heart beats two at a time but it still counts as one beat. That was a really fun activity!
