Click on the picture to go to it's source! | Cod use water by breathing and finding it's food or raising it's family, the water is it's home. In water cod's can change their color in certain water depths. It's two colors were gray green and a reddish brown. It likes to live close to the shore near the rough ground. It lives close to the ground due to temperature so not so deep in the water. The cod use there fast swimming to catch prey. It uses it's fast and gliding body through the water to catch it's prey. It can swim as fast as 2-5 cm/s. Due to it's color changing in water I would think that it would blend in and try to catch it's prey or to get eaten by something bigger so they would hide using camouflage. Thanks to the water depths it can be hidden from the predators and be alive and that's one of the ways they can use water. Cod also use water for breathing too. But it's not in front like on the nose but it looks like a gill and it moves like a flipper. In the water they get reproduced in batches then put into groups. Sometime the eggs get drifted away in the water and become larvae. But sometimes when it's cold it will go down deep in the ocean as far as 500 feet. These are the ways cod uses water. |
How Humans and Atlantic Cod Use Water
CodCod absorbs water into it's body and into it's gills. It changes it's color in the water. It doesn't take shower in the water. It doesn't drink water it just absorbs it. | BothWe both eat food. We also get food from the water like from fishing. We both can swim in water. We both can get clean like humans can take showers but the cod can get sucked by leeches so it's skin will be clean. | HumansWe can drink water and we don't absorb it. We also don't give birth in water. We have baths and brush our teeth and keep our hygiene up While the cod gets sucked by leeches so the leeches get the bacteria. |
Reflection
1. Why is water considered a "Natural Resource?" 2. How is water essential (required) to our survival and the survival of all living things? | 1. Water is considered a natural resource because it isn't man made. When it's not man made the water can be made from the earth. 2. Water helps us keep our hygiene, drink, and eat these are all the things that are necessary to keep us alive. For other living things like plants it can help them grow and stay hydrated. |
