There are over 300 species of squids all over the world. Unlike humans they are only able to live in water, they can not live on land. They can be found in fresh water and salt water. A squid has gills so it can breath under water. A squid is a huge part of marine life because lots of animals feed on them, so if squids went extinct a lot of other animals would go extinct. Some squids are only 2 feet long and some are over 40 feet long. Squids are excellent swimmers unlike humans who are good swimmers. A squid can go |
underwater way longer that a human because it has gills that help it breathe, That makes it also so it is very hard for polar bears to catch. When a squid gets scared it makes an inkblot in the water to cover it's escape. A squid can change colors and blend into the surrounding area because it has lots of chromatopheres, which allow it to change it's skin color. there is one type of squid called flying squid that can glide for up to 100 feet. That is truly amazing because it can fly out of the water and swim in the water!
